We recently connected with Taryn Seng and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Taryn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project for me has been what I’ve been working on this year. I always struggled to come up with subjects to make my art about, so last year around October I came up with 4 quarterly themes to explore this year. I just wrapped up my first theme, “Soft Rebellion”. The theme explored my own femininity, contradiction, and addressing my own insecurities. I created a collection of art of what it means to be soft but boldly me. I know younger me would be proud of what I created for this project.
And right now I’m finishing up creating for the quarter two theme, “Garden Dreams” which will be released on April 28th. This theme explores change, growth, and resilience’. The collection includes my designs on clothing, accessories such as bags and phones cases, journals, cute glass cups.
These collections have truly been a passion projects for me, which in turn has been the most meaningful to me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’ve always been a creative person, sharing insight to how I see the world. I went to art school and really thought I’d get a job right out of school when I started. By the end of college I realized I didn’t truly want to work for anyone when it came to my creative work. I wanted to work for myself. I started by selling my art creations on Etsy and picking up any creative work where I could. Eventually I moved to Atlanta after I graduated wanting to be near family and creative friends. I have had so many experiences and opportunities because I moved near other creatives, I’m so thankful for them.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The goal in any of the art I create is to show the beauty and resilience in people and the world. A lot of my work is inspired by nature and humans, how we interact with the world. As I stated in one of the other questions I’m really exploring my own insecurities, my growth and resilience. I’m excited to keep going.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing others resonate with my work. It makes me feel less alone in a world that focuses so much on individualism. Art that brings people together is so beautiful to see.
