We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taryn Ferrer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taryn below.
Taryn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to lead women to build wealth to positively impact the world and have FUN while doing it. I am passionate about women claiming their power with money I have witnessed and experienced money used as a manipulation tool against women. When we have money we invest in companies and causes that serve to improve the quality of life for the collective. I’ve had clients pay for a family member’s college tuition and start foundations to provide access to resources in their communities. Now for the fun part. So much financial information is dry or shaming people about their spending habits. My philosophy is that money wants to support you. I work with clients to find positive experiences to associate with money and focus on the expansion of what’s possible to inspire action on the mundane financial strategies. Allowing money to be fun makes the journey to reaching financial goals more enjoyable.

Taryn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Taryn McNamee Ferrer, better known as T-Money$ the energetic, passionate, and resilient Founder & CEO of Money Honey LLC. As a Wealth Coach I teach ambitious female CEOs and professional women how to build the financial confidence to make millions by energetically healing your relationship with money, elevated money management, and mindset work. I became a financial coach because I literally can talk about money all day! I also enjoy diving into money habits and the experiences a person has to develop them. Before all of that, I became a coach to help women have a better experience with money than I did. As an entrepreneur I was denied for business loans because I am a black woman. I would have a great talk with the lender on the phone and when they saw me in person all of a sudden the energy changed. I overcame a financially abusive situation and have deep desire to help women avoid or get out of those situations. Lastly, I’ve seen how improving my relationship with money changed my life. As I learned about money, financial management, and developed my mindset, I started reaching the goals I dreamed of for years like multiple international trips in one year.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn “needing to reach a certain income level before asking for support.” Also known as independent woman syndrome haha I was an entrepreneur for 7 years before I hired my first business coach and waited 5 years before hiring my first team member. I spent a lot of time telling myself that I wasn’t making enough money yet to hire anyone. Yet, once I made those first hires, my revenue increased. I believe part of it comes from independence and my childhood experience of always figuring out a way to reach a goal or complete a task. I learned that although I could do it myself, doesn’t mean that it’s the best method or place to use my talents. Once I overcame that mindset, I had to get past the fear of not making enough to pay them. I decided I would take the risk and give it my all in the coaching program or delegate as much as I could to the team member I hired. I still experienced a couple months where I struggled to pay and I communicated the situation. I was met with patience instead of losing a team member as fear wanted me to believe.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source of clients have come from speaking engagements. I often meet new clients at a workshop I’m teaching or when I’m speaking on a podcast. Another way I’ve received clients is through masterclasses I’ve hosted online. Those times when potential clients can see your personality and how you deliver the information they want to learn allows people to get to know you and feel comfortable hiring you.
