We were lucky to catch up with TaRese Blair recently and have shared our conversation below.
TaRese, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
As a single parent of four children, leaving a constant paycheck from my corporate job to focus on building my business was a big risk. I provide luxury services, so maintaining clients can be difficult. Without my clients I cannot provide for my family. But I had to take a leap of faith and trust the process and I am glad that I did! One of my loyal clients reminded me recently that I started out in my home shortly after the pandemic and am now apart of a wonderful beauty bar. At times I feel that where I am in my career is not enough. But to look back from where I started, I have come a mighty long way. This reflection keeps me going and I am so proud of what I have accomplished thus far.

TaRese, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always had a passion to make others beautiful. But, I come from a family of educators who frowned at the thought of me working in the beauty industry. In their eyes I was to be an educator myself or work a corporate job. After experiencing deep depression I realized I was living life for others and not myself. I had to make a change! I enrolled in beauty school and became an esthetician. I am now able to uplift my clients by enhancing their outer beauty and boosting confidence.. Weather it’s professional makeup, waxing, or a relaxing facial; my clients leave with a glow and an extra pep in their stride. My motto is “When you look good, you feel good” and I want every client to also have that feeling.

How’d you meet your business partner?
My business partner is my best friend from beauty school. In school if you saw one of us, the other was right there or nearby. We held each other accountable during school, helped one another study, and was always each other’s guinea pig when it came to learning a new service. Now today, nothing has change, well besides the fact that we are now in business together and are successful in our career, we still hold each other accountable, motivate each other, and are still each other’s guinea pig when it comes to learning a new service. I am so thankful our paths crossed, now we’re stuck together for life!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The book titled, The Secrete, helped to mold my outlook as an entrepreneur. The Secrete focuses on the Law of Attraction. What you put out in the universe, you will get back. Manifesting your wants and needs are essential. I write down what I would like to manifest so that I can have a visual to see daily. Then I envision myself has already having what I want to manifest. The book also talks about giving. Giving back to others is vital. I donate services from time to time to those that do not have the income to enjoy a luxury services.
