Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tara Yummy. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tara, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I am really happy working as a creative! I find myself wondering what it would be like to have a regular job because I still have a lot of friends that do have regular jobs. In a way I am grateful for my job now, because I have the freedom to pick when and where I work, and how much I work. But at the same time, sometimes I’m jealous of their routines and the fact that they get to have an “on/off” switch when it comes to work/life balance. Their work brain is able to be turned off easier with a real job – I feel like as a creative, I never stop thinking of potential and future video ideas or creative projects.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
After watching all of my favorite Youtubers growing up, I started creating YouTube videos myself while I was in high school and discovered it was something I was very passionate about. I am lucky enough to be born and raised in Los Angeles, which definitely helped get my foot in the door in terms of connecting with others in the same industry. I think I am most proud of how genuine my content is – and how I never play a character, it’s just me in front of the camera like I’m on facetime with everyone. It makes for a strong relationship with my followers, which opens the door to be able to have amazing opportunities like touring around the country, and meeting as many of them as I possibly can.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think working in social media it can be hard for some people to think of numbers, followings, views, etc as real people, but for me that’s the most rewarding part! I love knowing that there are all of those real people behind the screen commenting on my videos, and I get to impact their day!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
