We were lucky to catch up with Tara Thompson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tara, thanks for joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
The best things I do to make my customers feel appreciated are I always send everyone who ordered via the website a Christmas card and everyone who shops with me at events receive an ecard. I also give coupon codes twice a year and I give away freebies with certain purchases. I also make appreciation post on social media. I also tag my customers in reels.
Tara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Tara Thompson owner and fragrance curator for BMore Lit Candle Company. We offer soy wax candles, fabric perfume, body oil, pet safe carpet fresheners and incense. We believe that when your space smells nice you feel better. We create fragrances that enchant and ignite. All of our products are made with premium ingredients that are non toxic. Our customers deserve the best and we provide the best. I think what sets us apart from others is our custom fragrance blends and our ability to add love and good intentions into everything we do. We are all about spreading love and happiness. I turn on the happiest most joyful music when I create and I believe that the energy we put out is captured in our products. I am most proud of the growth and opportunities that have come my way since starting my business in 2021. Gaining repeat customers and the opportunity to have my products in stores across the United States. What I want potential customers to know is that I will continue to provide superior products and customer service.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Post! Post and keep on posting. You can’t get discouraged if you post one day and only 50 people view your content. One day it’s up and another it’s down. Still you keep on posting and remember that everything you do with your business is content.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I think the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is participating in festivals and events. Each event I gain new customers. Even if they did not buy anything from me that day they remember the personal interaction that you can only get from a small business. People never forget how you make them feel.
