Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tara Saavedra. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Tara thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally when I was really young. I’ve always been drawn to music, theater, and the arts. I’ve done dance, acting, musicals, and choir growing up, throughout my school years and into college. I find art in many forms incredibly powering, freeing, and inspiring. Music has been my biggest passion though. I love singing, I love creating sounds that create worlds to get lost in, writing lyrics and painting pictures with words, these are all things I fell in love with. The passion and desire has been there a long time, so I guess you could say I’ve always known.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tara and I am Morgue VVitch. I’m a solo artist, singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and have done many collaborations with artists from all around the world. I conjured my solo project, Morgue VVitch in 2019 with the idea of blending dark electronic and and synth wave, which has really morphed its sounds into a blend of witch house and witch wave. My sound just feels very natural to me even throughout the progression. I don’t rely on reference tracks for inspiration, but rather emotions. I enjoy being a solo artist and the freedom of being able to create on my own and operate this project solely. It’s a ton of work, time consuming, exhausting at times, but drives the hell out of me.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I wouldn’t say I have a particular goal I’m trying to reach, but rather a sense of accomplishment in doing what I love, for chasing my dream, and for not giving up. There’s no mission, no destination. Just enjoying the journey and hopefully have some kind of positive impact on others.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best ways society can show support for artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem is to be present, come to shows, come to galleries, buy merch, share their websites, help them be seen and heard. Support local venues, don’t just support mainstream artists, find artists in your local area, let artists create, support schools and their theater and music programs! There’s so much we can all do to show support. Without artists and creatives, the world is nothing.
