We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tara Jackson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara , thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

The Idea started in 2019. Tara J was an independent music artist who felt that there were not many media resources for independent music artist. As a music artist herself she wanted to be able to spread her brand around the world. Tara J started HotxxMagOnlineRadio as a media outlet, as well as an online radio outlet dedicated to the independent music artist and businesses. Which allowed them to be able to get their brands promoted and pushed out for the world to see and to learn more about their crafts and talents. Tara J funds HotxxMagOnlineRadio through her person earnings. Tara J works a full time Job while running her business. She also created donations for the services she offers in order to maintain and expand on the services offered for independent. She is all about support and believes independent music artist should support each other. When Tara J started back in 2019 she didn’t realize how big of an impact her business would have on the independent music scenes around the world. Every year HotxxMagOnlineRadio grows and allows opportunity for networking, branding and promotions for independent music artist everywhere. Currently Tara J is working on more services and opportunities for independent music artist to promote their music and businesses on. Tara J has a online radio show, “HotxxMagOnlineRadio”, a digital/print magazine, “Underground Noise” aka HotxxMagazine. She is also currently working on her new upcoming online reality show called “Hustle Hard To Get It”. Which will allow 6 independent music artist and business owners to showcase their talents and brands to the world through a vlog style online show. which will premiere and be available on YouTube and her website HotxxMagOnlineradio.com

Tara J Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. She is a fun and loving music artist and Entrepreneur. Tara J grew up in Garfield in Pittsburgh, Pa. After graduating High school she attended Point Park University In Pittsburgh, Pa. After 4 years in college she graduated with her bachelors degree in Multimedia. Two months after graduating from College, she got her first LLC Business Called “HotxxMagazine LLC”, which is an Multimedia Company. Since then Tara J has been awarded for her creativity and work. In 2019 she started her second LLC called “HotxxMagOnlineRadio”. Which is a online radio show. In 2021 she was awarded “Best Podcast Of PGH 2021”. In 2021 Tara J completed her documentary series called “Transformation Of Tara J”, shortly after her mother’s passing in June 2021. In December of 2021, Tara J was offered a position as a contributor/Producer on #WhatsGoingOn segment on Fox Sports Radio. Tara J continues to reach for the stars with her goals being her motivation to keep pushing daily.

When it comes to HotxxMagOnlineRadio, Tara J takes pride in knowing that she is making a difference in the underground independent music scene around the world. She is proud to see independent music artist supporting each other more and growing other knowledge of the music business as well as growing their portfolios within the services, promotion and marketing in which she offers to her clients. Many of her clients she interviews mentions on the interviews that because of her is why they are elevating and progressing in their crafts.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

HotxxMagOnlineRadio was built by Tara J who also takes interest in writing, recording and performing. When she decided to create HotxxMagOnlineRadio she already had a following on social media from her music supporters. When she launched HotxxMagOnlineRadio there were a lot of music artist that showed interest in her services and brand based off of the consistency and brand awareness, which was heavy pushed out and advertised on social media mainly. She continued daily and multiple times of the day to promote her business. She went to many local entrainment shows in Pittsburgh to meet new independent music artist and to offer her services to promoters, dj’s and independent music artist which would help to boost their support reach. Very quickly HotxxMagOnlineRadio grew on social media through shares, mentions, new followers, status post and engagements.

Tara J recommends if you are to start a business to treat it like a 9 to 5. Never slack off with promoting your brand. She believed a lot of people focus on likes, and shares. However, she recommends business owners and independent music artist to focus on their Analytics and reach engagements. She states “Let’s be real, everyone may not click like on everything you post on social media, however they are watching and they see everything you do”. It is important to push your brand to everyone even people who don’t do the same thing that you do. She also states “Who doesn’t listen to music, even if your genre of music isn’t their favorite, people are usually open to new things especially when they believe in what you are putting out”. She also believes that for others to believe and see your vision you must also believe in your own vision.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

My best source has Been social media. Since 2019 to today social media has grown so much. You can literally search anything on the web. I give huge props to Point Park University for the tools they have taught during my 4 years of college 2013-2017. With those tools I have continued to do my research and advance my skills in the multimedia field. I started using social media for advertising and marketing my business, which showed to be very effective of the years. My post and advertisements begin to gain more engagements, followers and actual supporters.

I highly recommend for others to research more on social media marketing and promotion to take their businesses and brands to the next level. Social media is a very effective and easy tool to grow your brand and business if its done correctly. Also don’t be afraid to0 attend event within the interest of your businesses and brand. That could also be a huge successful way of gaining new clients and followers.
