We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tara and Sandra Hardy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tara and Sandra below.
Hi Tara and Sandra, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We started tARTbyTARA with the intention of creating handmade art that has healing properties. Tara has fought many illnesses became disabled which led to the metaphysical world. Through learning how to heal and adjusting to her new life, she found this specific type of art. Sandra soon feel in love with this concept and joined in the journey. Together we have run tARTbyTARA for over 5 years. We just expanded to a physical store where we sell our handmade items and offer classes for creating art.

Tara and Sandra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When we expanded, our goal was to be inclusive to all. Carrying a variety of worldly art, handmade pieces and cleansing tools. The classroom was designed to give our local community a place to come and create with a free mind. We offer a variety of classes including different paintings, home decor and holiday crafts.
We started tARTbyTARA in a 800 sqft apartment that we shared with our child and fur babies. We build our social media platform from the ground up. Always organically with the hopes of connecting to like minded people.
Our goal was always to make special art that will be enjoyed for years to come. Our pieces are completely unique and unlike anything that had ever been create before.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building and organic platform takes a lot of work. I was present everyday, day in and day out for 4 solid years. Posting consistently, supporting lots of other shops, using high quality photos, always engaging with our followers and the main thing; staying focused on my goals. Instead of watching everyone else, and comparing myself to others, I kept my blinders on. Hustled hard and made good quality products.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Our pivot is currently taking place. Social media has changed and we will with it. The ebb and flow of life. We are focusing more on in person classes and our local community now. Our plans are to expand our teaching to our virtual customers by the end of the year.
