We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tanya Wideman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tanya below.
Tanya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I have worked in the medical field for many years as a biller and coder. I had a successful career at Emory University Hospital. I was making great money and had incredible benefits, but I really didn’t enjoy what I did. I wanted to do something that I felt was fulfilling and satisfying. I also wanted to be in control of my schedule so that I could spend more time with my family. I had been doing photography as a side job while working in the medical field, but in 2020, I decided to go full-time. It has not been easy, but it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel like I am doing something that I truly love and bringing joy to so many families while capturing precious memories for them. Also, I am able to spend more time with my family and make memories with them as well.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a Louisiana-born, Georgia-living girl who is obssesed with her faith, family, and photography business. I specialize in wedding and lifestyle photography. I ‘ve been blessed with the most amazing clients and friends who have made this possible. Getting to know my clients personally is one of the best parts of my job. I am so blessed to be able to create something so lasting for people, to where they can relive those special moments over and over again. I love capturing special moments in life that will be treasured forever. I value having physical documentation of life’s journeys so much, that I want to share that with you. I want you to also have tangible memories to relive over and over. To always remember how he looked at you when he saw you in your dress for the first time. How you clutched your dad’s arm as he waked you towards your future husband. Dancing the night away with your sister and best gals on the best day of your life. I want you to remember that forever.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
For you to market your business on social media, you have to have an audience. It is as hard and simple as that. There is a lot of comepetition out there. The first thing I would suggest is to find your target audience. Once you find your target audience, you will be able to create a content marketing strategy to reach your ideal clients. The next step is to engage. It is called social media for a reason. You must engage with other professionals in your niche and potential clients! Make sure you are posting consistently and responding to every comment and/or message that someone sends you. One of the best ways to grow your audeience on social network is engagement.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Instagram is more than a place to share pictures and videos of your day. It is a hub of busniess activity. Brands can now run fundraisers, sell products, advertise services, and book reservations. Make sure your profile picture is clear and inviting. Your bio should describe your brand and its values. It should also include a call to action. I would say 70 % of my new clients come from Instagram.
