We were lucky to catch up with Tanya Patron recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tanya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
When I first decided to start my own practice, it was both exciting and terrifying. I had already been working in aesthetics for 10 years, but I always knew I wanted to build something that reflected my vision: a space where patients could feel cared for, not just treated. The early days were filled with research, late nights, and a lot of trial and error. From finding the right location, to creating branding that felt true to me, to navigating the legal and financial side of starting a medical practice, every step came with a new challenge.
One of the biggest hurdles was balancing the clinical side I loved with the realities of running a business. Suddenly I wasn’t just an injector, I was also a marketer, a manager, and an entrepreneur. There were moments when I questioned if I had taken on too much, but those struggles taught me resilience and forced me to learn quickly.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change the struggles because they shaped me into the business owner I am today. But if I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be: don’t wait until everything feels perfect. You’ll never have every answer, and sometimes you have to take the leap and figure things out along the way.
For young professionals thinking about starting their own practice, my biggest advice is to stay clear on your “why.” If your motivation is only financial, the challenges will overwhelm you. But if your purpose is rooted in passion, whether that’s helping patients, creating something unique, or pushing your field forward, that passion will carry you through the hard days. Also, surround yourself with mentors, experts, and a strong support system. I leaned heavily on my husband, who is a CPA, for guidance on the financial side, and having that kind of support was invaluable.
Starting a practice is never easy, but it is one of the most rewarding journeys you can take. Today, seeing my patients’ confidence transform and walking into an office that was five years in the making reminds me that every obstacle was worth it.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tanya Patron, PA-C, and I have been in aesthetics for over 15 years. What originally drew me into this field was the beautiful balance of medicine, artistry, and human connection. I quickly realized that aesthetics is not just about how someone looks on the outside, it is about how they feel on the inside. The best part of my job is watching a patient leave our office not only looking refreshed, but walking out with their head held higher and a new confidence that radiates in every part of their life.
I started Selfie Aesthetic because I wanted to create a space that felt different. A place where people could feel cared for, understood, and seen as individuals, not just as appointments on a schedule. Our services range from injectables to skin rejuvenation and curated treatment packages that meet patients at every stage of life. Whether it is a younger patient seeking subtle, preventative treatments or someone later in life looking for full restoration and balance, every plan is personalized. To me, no two faces are the same and every person deserves to feel uniquely beautiful.
What makes Selfie Aesthetic stand out is not only our artistry, but also our commitment to safety and education. Beyond caring for patients, I have always been passionate about mentoring other injectors and raising the standard of our industry. That passion led me to create the Liftie Aspirator, the first and only patented soft aspirator, which is now the best-selling aspirator on the market. Knowing that something I developed helps injectors practice more safely all over the country is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
One of my proudest moments has been opening the doors to our new office, which was five years in the making. Walking into a space that I dreamed about and designed with intention feels surreal. It is both comforting and elevated, and I love that patients notice the little details that make them feel special. My favorite part is our conference room, which we created as a space for education and community. It represents not just where we are now, but where we are going as we continue to mentor and train others in the field.
What I want people to know about my brand is that Selfie Aesthetic is not about chasing trends or creating a one-size-fits-all look. It is about helping people look and feel their best in the most natural way possible. At the end of the day, the work I do is about confidence, authenticity, and making people feel comfortable in their own skin.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been focusing on trust, education, and consistency. In aesthetics, patients are putting not only their appearance, but also their health, in your hands. Building a reputation for safety, honesty, and natural results has been the foundation of our growth. Many of our new patients come through word-of-mouth referrals, which to me is the highest compliment we could ever receive.
We also place a big emphasis on education, both for patients and for the injector community. On the patient side, I take the time to explain treatment plans, why certain approaches will give them the best long-term results, and how different options work together. When patients feel informed and understood, they are far more likely to trust the process and continue their journey with us. On the professional side, sharing knowledge and creating tools like the Liftie Aspirator has positioned us as thought leaders, which naturally draws patients who want to be treated in a practice that values innovation and safety.
Another key piece has been staying true to our brand identity. In Miami, where the aesthetics market is highly competitive, it can be tempting to compete on trends or discounts. Instead, we have built our reputation around offering premium, natural results in an environment that feels both elevated and comforting. Patients know what to expect when they come to Selfie Aesthetic, and that consistency builds loyalty.
Today, we are proud to have over 4,000 patients in our database, many of whom have been with us for years and continue to refer their friends and family. At the end of the day, our best growth strategy has always been making sure every patient feels seen, cared for, and thrilled with their results. When that happens, they naturally become ambassadors for our brand.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Beyond training and knowledge, I think the most important qualities for success in aesthetics are empathy, integrity, and vision. Technical skills are essential, but what truly sets an injector apart is the ability to listen and understand what a patient is really hoping to achieve. Many times, patients come in asking for a specific treatment, but when you take the time to listen and connect, you uncover the deeper concerns that are really driving their request. That ability to empathize and guide patients toward what will truly serve them best is invaluable.
Artistry is another piece that often gets overlooked. Aesthetic medicine is as much about having an artistic eye as it is about clinical expertise. Knowing how to balance and enhance the face in a way that looks natural and harmonious requires vision, not just technical skill.
On the business side, resilience and adaptability are key. The aesthetics industry is competitive and constantly evolving, and it can be easy to get caught up in trends or pressured into doing what everyone else is doing. Staying true to your brand and your values, while also being willing to adapt and grow, is critical.
Integrity cannot be overstated. Patients remember how you make them feel, not just how they look when they leave your office. If you are honest, consistent, and always put their best interests first, you build trust. In this field, trust is everything.
