Tanya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When it came to naming our bakery, we wanted to create something personal and meaningful. We decided to base the name of the bakery on me and my siblings first letter that is Nishu, Aishwary, Tanya, and Somya. Thus, we chose the name ‘The N.A.T.S Bakery’.
During the naming process, we considered various options, but we were drawn to the simplicity and symbolism of using our initials. It not only reflects our family ties but also showcases our commitment to working closely as a team.
We are proud of our name choice as it encapsulates our personal connection, signifies our unity, and represents the collective passion and dedication we bring to our work at ‘The N.A.T.S Bakery.’
By utilizing the first letter of our four sibling founders, ‘ The N.A.T.S Bakery’ not only serves as a memorable name but also reflects our values, history, and the collaborative spirit that drives our company forward.”
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Let me introduce myself, I am Tanya Maurya and i own a small baking business from home. Baking has not always been a passion of mine. It all started when i went to the culinary institute in 2017. I completed my graduation from a renowned college in India where i got interested in Baking and came to know about the basics.
Well i graduated in 2020, and we were all under lockdown due to covid, so i started baking and experimenting with different recipes for my family. The positive feedback and encouragement I received from them sparked the idea of starting a home bakery.
As i know the basics of almost every kind of dessert, i started practicing by watching YouTube videos. I belong to a pure vegetarian background so using egg was a big no in my house, and as you all know that the 3 basic ingredients of a bakery are Flour, Egg, and Milk.
So the first thing I did was creating my eggless recipes for most of the desserts like cakes, cookies, cheesecake, macaroons, eclairs, etc.
To enhance my baking skills i started baking cakes for every occasion either it’s a birthday or an anniversary. These learning opportunities helped me refine my techniques and understand the science behind baking.
At my home bakery, I provide a wide range of baked goods, including cakes, cupcakes, cookies, muffins and more. Each item is made from scratch using the finest ingredients, ensuring the highest quality and flavor in every bite.
What sets me apart from others is the quality and taste i provide to my customer. I may not make those sophisticated cakes, but i am really proud of the taste and diversity i bring to the market, which give me repeat business from my satisfied customers.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When we started ‘The N.A.T.S Bakery’, we knew that making an audience on social media would be crucial. Fortunately, i have a cousin who has a lot of knowledge about social media and editing, i turned to her for help. She taught me how to establish a community of baking enthusiast and loyal customers through social media platforms.
I started baking and she began creating eye-catching visuals of my delectable treats. I was baking high quality products and she was capturing high-quality photographs that highlighted the intricate details and mouthwatering appeal of my baked goods. Using a consistent style and aesthetic, she crafted a visually cohesive feed that would instantly captivate anyone scrolling through their social media feed.
To kickstart our social media presence, we identified the platforms where our target audience was most active. We chose Instagram and Facebook as our primary channels, as they provided the ideal platforms for sharing visual content and engaging with followers.To expand our reach Archie (my cousin) told me to put relevant hashtags to our posts.
For those just starting to build a social media presence for their home bakery, we advise to invest time and effort in creating high quality visuals that showcase your unique creation. Be consistent in your posting and interact with your followers. Building a social media presence takes time and dedication, but with a thoughtful approach, engaging content, and meaningful interactions, you will be able to do it.
How’d you meet your business partner?
This is a funny story. I met the co-founder/ business partner of ‘The N.A.T.S Bakery’ at my own home. Can you believe it?
It was January 2021, we all were still at home due to covid, not doing anything. Suddenly my sisters gave me the idea to start selling cakes to friends and neighbours, as by that time i was already making cakes for every occasion.
We then and there created an instagram page and posted that we are starting a home bakery giving you the delicious cakes baked with high quality products.
I was not that confident at that time, but within few minutes of introducing my bakery on the social platform i got an order. So we made the cake and my brother did the delivery, and that is how i met my co-founders/business partners.
