Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tanner Huante . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tanner, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
I’ve only been doing art for a few years, I picked it up rather quickly and got serious with it even faster. I used my lockdown time durning the pandemic to really focus on art, I spent every single day drawing, and learning, spent all my time trying to grow as an artist. I got to a point of being more comfortable and started posting some of my art on my social media. After sometime posting art online one one of my best friends reached out to me to make a custom piece of art special for his girlfriends birthday. That friend was the first person to support me as a creative, and he is also now my business partner and the other owner of our clothing brand.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi my name is Tanner, the internet knows me as Sluug! I’m an artist specializing in anime based designs and have an anime themed clothing brand called “Namekuuji” that I do all of the designing for. I generally customize sneakers, purses, and skate boards creating 1 of 1 pieces for my customers. Everything I paint is the only one made like it and I don’t redo old designs. I am at my happiest when I’m creating art for people.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There’s a lot of positives about being able to create art for a living. I think being able to create something that someone is going to look at and feel genuine happiness is such a rewarding feeling. I’ve had customers tell me that they were commissioning my art for all sorts of things and the most rewarding thing will always be them telling me they think I can make something no one else can that will make them feel real happiness. I want people to look at my work and smile.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am a huge fan of how nostalgia feels. There’s something different about looking at something and having happy memories wash over you and feeling like you traveled back in time to things being simpler just for a second just feeling pure happiness. I want my art to capture that same feeling. I want people to look at what I create and feel bliss, love and happiness. I want them to see my work and feel the love that I put into every piece of art that I create. It’s my mission in life to create and bring people true genuine happiness through art.
