We recently connected with Tanja Alexandra Kern and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanja Alexandra, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I have taken some significant risks in my life, but I felt safe in doing so because I followed my heart. It has felt, at times, like I set out into the unknown and I am grateful for all these experiences, because the risks ultimately took me to a more satisfying place.Taking these risks took courage, perseverance, vulnerability, and resulted in real personal growth. My wish to apply what I learned to support my clients on their very personal journeys of discovery. Stepping out of one’s comfort zone is hard but it really helps to have someone by your side who offers perspective, accountability, encouragement and tools to release what is no longer serving you and move towards your dreams.
I am so fortunate to have lived on three different continents, in many different cities, and enjoyed traveling to numerous countries on this beautiful planet. Discovering and embracing different cultures set the foundation for working with clients worldwide.
On one of these international moves I set out with only two packed suitcases and a one-way ticket in my hands. It was scary but I trusted my heart and my heart did not let me down. I like to bring the same confidence to my clients, that they too can follow their dreams.
Relationships offer us a wonderful opportunity for personal growth when both partners are in alignment and spiritually aware. Over time partners can grow together or drift further apart. My holistic studies brought me through a journey of introspection and personal transformation. I realized that being appreciated for being authentically who I am is an important aspect in any relationship. So it became clear that when the values and visions of a long-term relationship I had in my thirties were no longer aligned with those of my partner we had to part ways in order to grow.
Another risk I took was to fully discover my purpose. It has always been my passion to help others and that vision encouraged me to leave my job in the banking business, where I had worked for about a decade.
To truly be of service to others, I immersed myself in developing a deep understanding of powerful ancient wisdom and traditions.
My journey honed the gifts of these traditions and helped me start a new chapter of self-discovery, healing, personal growth and transformation.
It became clear to me that, through the combination of my own experience and powerful healing modalities, my mission was to offer these tools to empower others to follow their dreams.

Tanja Alexandra, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I love helping others achieve their full potential through holistic transformation. I’ve been through a number of transformations myself and have benefitted and grown from these experiences.
In order to achieve true transformation I believe it is important to work holistically using any number of different modalities that might be appropriate for a particular client. I focus on the integration of powerful healing arts to attain the empowering transformation a client is seeking. Although each modality offers amazing results on its own, I bring a tailored transformational healing package to each individual client.
By following my heart I had to overcome many obstacles and learned many lessons that make my client’s individual journey more productive. But change is not an easy process. Having an experienced guide saves my clients time, money and frustration. Not only do you receive and practice the necessary tools to empower yourself and break free from what has been holding you back but you also receive ongoing support so that solutions work in the long run. I help my clients to start taking action steps in the direction of their dreams.
There are several examples of transformational work I perform with my clients. These include releasing limiting beliefs and changing perspective to get out of feeling “stuck”. We might work on increasing personal vitality, contentment or inner peace. We could examine together how to improve one’s relationships, develop better health and wellness habits, reach for personal desires, advance one’s career, finances, or a combination of these issues.
From an initial consultation and depending on a client’s needs I could incorporate anything from transformational coaching, energy healing, guided meditations, Chakra balancing, Reiki, yoga, breathwork or aromatherapy to encourage empowering results. Improvements for a particular client might be greater self-acceptance, increased awareness and perceptive mindfulness. I love to work with all age-groups because I believe there is always the opportunity for creating a physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual transformation.
I also offer Lunar Goddess Yoga for the right clients. These sessions follow the ancient tradition of aligning our energy to the phases of the moon. The combination of physical movement, mindfulness, breath work and coaching in alignment with the moon phases and goddess energies ignite deep personal transformation. These classes invite my clients to tap into a higher consciousness, greater inner wisdom and sense of self.
To keep my client’s deeply held and personal intentions close to their hearts, I can also create a piece of custom designed, handmade gemstone jewelry infused with Reiki energy. I’ve always been fascinated by the healing properties of crystals and love the joy these jewelry pieces bring to my clients.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth is the best strategy for any business, particularly one that is so intimate and personal. I believe it is also very important to have a positive mindset and to stay inspired. People want to know if someone is effective and will solve problems and this is best found out through friends and trusted associates.
This works tends to build a community of like minded people that can come together (group classes/workshops/retreats/or social media sites) and generate a positive, joyful energy.
Social media is also an effective tool to spread the word and I am grateful how many people can be reached internationally. Offering my sessions on Zoom or Skype now also allows me to work with clients anywhere in the world.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
It is important to walk the talk, be authentic, kind and open to new perspectives and insights.
Over the years as a yoga instructor I noticed how often my students taught me things and how much they helped me become a better teacher. It has been such a privilege working with so many people who arrive stressed and tired and leave with new inspiration, and a smile on their face.
Every client is unique and different and needs a fresh and open minded approach. The more I am present with my client, clear my mind and let intuition guide me, the better the outcome.
I have found great value and have really appreciated the mutual support, inspiration and encouragement of other small businesses owners and entrepreneurs.
