Tanisha, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
One of the ways I set myself apart in the modeling industry is by fully embracing and celebrating my identity as a plus-size, darker skinned African-American model. While the industry has made strides in diversity, there are still rigid beauty standards that often exclude or limit opportunities for models who look like me. Instead of conforming to outdated industry norms, I’ve built my brand around authenticity, confidence, and representation, proving that plus-size models belong in bridal campaigns, editorials, and major runways just as much as anyone else.
A moment that really stands out to me is being only one of few plus size models walking for Runway 7 during NYFW. There have been strides when it comes to plus size bodies on the runway during NYFW but there needs to be more. As a result, this was a moment I’ll never forget because that experience reinforced my belief that breaking industry standards isn’t just about pushing boundaries it’s about creating space for others to see themselves reflected in ways they never thought possible, and that’s what we did that day on the runway.

Hi there! My name is Tanisha, and I’m a plus-size model from New Jersey with over a decade of experience. I entered modeling to challenge beauty standards and increase representation for curvy, Black women.
How I Offer My Services:
• Fashion & Editorial – I collaborate with brands and photographers to create striking, high-fashion imagery.
• Commercial & Lifestyle – I help businesses connect with audiences through authentic, everyday visuals.
• Runway & NYFW – I bring confidence, presence, and a powerful walk to the runway.
• Bridal & Special Occasion – I showcase size-inclusive bridal and occasion wear with grace and sophistication.
What sets me apart is my authenticity, versatility, and bold energy. I don’t just model I create moments that resonate, tell a story, and leave an impact.
One of my proudest accomplishments is inspiring women who have felt unseen in fashion. With every campaign, runway, and editorial shoot, I help expand beauty standards and increase representation. In 2025, I’m focused on signing with a new agency, booking dream clients, walking in NYFW, and growing my business—not just for personal success, but to open more doors for plus-size models and prove that curvy women belong in every fashion space.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source for new clients for me has been social media specifically Facebook and Instagram. I also utilize casting websites like Casting Networks, Gotham Casting, Backstage, etc.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a model and creative is the impact seeing how my work inspires confidence, challenges beauty standards, and helps others feel seen. One of the best feelings in the world is hearing someone say please don’t stop making content because my friend is shaped like you and looks to you for inspiration. Whether it’s a campaign, runway show, or editorial shoot, knowing that someone can look at my images and feel empowered in their own skin is everything.
I also love the storytelling aspect bringing a brand’s vision to life, collaborating with talented creatives, and creating moments that truly resonate. It’s more than just posing, it’s about evoking emotion, shifting perspectives, and making space for plus-size beauty in every fashion space.
