Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tanisha DesRochers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tanisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?
In any successful business growth is inevitable. As your client volume grows and your schedule fills, there is less free time available to the business owner and a greater demand for their work. The importance of maintaining the same quality of work and the same level of safety for your clients is vital to a business regardless of growing demand. This is where resolve comes into play. It is important to remember that sustaining good quality is what brought you business in the first place, when you fail to maintain that same quality your business will falter. It is not enough to maintain quality but to continue to improve and develop upon quality and safety alike. I personally strive to improve my craftsmanship, and my knowledge surrounding my craft as well as the necessary safety precautions I must take to ensure the satisfaction of my growing clientele. This in and of itself sets the stage for attracting new clientele and maintaining client retention.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My interest in nails found me during the COVID-19 lockdowns. A $40 investment into some cheap nail supplies let to blossoming career. I made my way from a kitchen table to my own high-end suite. My brand is a direct reflection of myself. I have put years of hard work, research, and dedication into my business and cultivating positive, productive, and in some lucky cases, personal relationships with my clientele. In my salon men and women feel comfortable and excited. It is truly about what is best for my client when they are in my chair. My greatest point of pride in my business no one can say they did the work for me. Everything I know I taught myself. Everything I own I bought myself. The empowerment of earning your own accolades is not something you can buy.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
When it comes to the beauty industry, individuals are more likely to take interest in a personal recommendation from a friend, than an ad on social media. Word of mouth is key. Your clients are a walking billboard. Your work is on their hands, their feet. If someone asks your client where their nails were done and they give out your name, that’s a big deal. Reviews are very helpful. You shouldn’t ever be afraid to ask your clients to leave a positive review, there is no better way to assure a potential client they are in good hands.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Giving your clients a well-rounded experience is extremely important. What I mean by that is the quality of the work you do needs to be good, your customer service also needs to be good, booking and payment needs to be smooth, et cetra et cetra… all of these are factors in customer satisfaction. When you can satisfy your clients in all of these areas, it is almost a guarantee that they will return. It is also almost a guarantee that they will recommend you to others. A consistently positive experience fosters loyalty.
