Tanisha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I would like to say that I took a risk starting my own business. I started making jewelry as a hobby in 2013 when Inwas pregnant with my first son. I had just recently moved to a new city, and had also lost my job. I started creating jewelry as a pass time and also because I myself love having a lot of jewelry. Since this was around tax season and I knew I wanted to go further with my craft; I took a lump of my taxes and bought A LOT of beads and charms. This was a huge risk and investment and being honest; I had no clue how it would turn out. Running your own small business has its ups and downs but I wouldn’t have experienced any of it had I not taken that first risk and purchased all of those supplies to take my “hobby” to the next level. Here I am, 11 years later; still going strong!

Tanisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Tanisha C. and I founded Love Cassie LLC in 2018, however I have been making jewelry for well over 11 years. The name “Love Cassie” was inspired by my late Aunt Cassandra, who had a store of her own that was home for her own jewelry making business for many years. Love Cassie LLC specializes in customized beaded bracelets, bangles, and other accessories. My products have received phenomenal reviews from our customers and influencers such as IAmZoie, B. Simone, Darren Fleet, and Richie Fontane to name a few! At Love Cassie LLC, I guarantee that every single purchase you make will be a seamless process from start to finish. I take pride in my products and love the feeling of handcrafting a special piece of jewelry for someone. What makes me the most proud about my business is the love and thought that is put into every piece that is made and the way the customers can appreciate my love for each piece I create.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience on social media by always posting my work and going on instagram or Facebook live. I would go live while creating my pieces and also with other business owners as well. We would do Q&A with our followers, giveaways, and raffles. By showing my followers that I was a real person who experienced real life issues and giving them a peak into my personal life as well as my professional life; I was able to grow my audience.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Initially; I used my tax dollars to fund my business and that worked for a while. As time went on, I did end up gaining part time employment to not only fund my business but to also make new business relationships and market my business. Now I use part of the earnings from my 9-5 to fund my dream
