We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tania Esponda Aja a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Tania thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I am currently in the middle of an Art Installation called “The Power of Words” comisioned by Bal Harbour Village for Art Basel Miami 2023. It has been a beautiful project that seamlessly blends nature and art, crafting unfamiliar words from eco-friendly materials that radiate warmth, transcending linguistic boundaries to touch the heart.

Through the my unique typographic language, vibrant red words weave emotions and meanings, prompting inquiries about the core of language. Can kindness go beyond words? Is understanding the key to the influence of these words, or do they transcend comprehension? The installation poses this questions.

Tania, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m a Mexican-Spanish multidisciplinary artist who resides and works between Mexico and Miami. I explore the realms of language and symbolism through various artistic mediums, including sculpture, installation, photography, painting, and augmented reality.

My creative practice centers on deciphering unique languages interweaving the themes of Wine, Typography, and Geometry, employing diverse materials and new techniques to articulate specific messages.

My research has led me to the development of innovative techniques showcased in three main collections: (VINUS) Wine Art Language, Typographic Language, and Geometric Language. Through these themes, several series emerge, where I communicate my vision in unprecedented ways. Tania employs diverse materials and cutting-edge techniques to craft messages, creating a distinctive artistic language within each collection.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The connections you create with people through art . Connections with souls.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

That technology is not the enemy, that the use of innovating technology can be very useful and creates enrichment in the Art world. I am experimenting with Augmented Reality and 3D printing and is an amazing new way of creating my vision
