We recently connected with Tania Birker and have shared our conversation below.
Tania, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I have worked on was a community organization I created in 2018 called Chru Love to raise money to directly sponsor the education and care for indigenous ChuRu children near Đà Lạt, Vietnam in my mom’s home village. Having produced events since 2007, I used my skills to curate an event featuring local musicians to fundraise. In January 2020 I was fortunate enough to actually visit Vietnam for the 2nd time. This was my opportunity to finally visit the school and daycare in Diom Village for the first time with my supportive husband. It was life changing! During the first 3 years we have successfully sponsored many children, however due to the pandemic we had to take a break.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My passion for the events industry first sparked in 2007 when I produced my first rock and fashion show to fundraise money for an orphanage. At heart, my love for art and music has always inspired my creative vision that influences every aspect of my life. Although I studied Architecture for many years, I knew that creating inspiring and unforgettable experiences through the connection of people and music was what I was meant to do.
I loved bringing people together through creativity and worked really hard to make my passion a successful career. I have traveled and produced mini one night festivals in major cities all over the nation featuring 80+ artists of different mediums. I have scouted, booked, and managed over a thousand artists. My drive kept growing and I wanted to do more than just public events, and that’s when I discovered private events.
From there, that is where my career really bloomed at VOX DJs. VOX DJs is an experiential entertainment company that provides DJ/MCs, Live Music, Production, AV/Lighting, and Photo Booths. We listen to our clients dreams and help make it a reality by designing custom experiences they want for themselves and their guests. Our clients consists of all different kinds of people, schools, organizations, corporations, lifestyle brands, high profile clients, festivals, etc.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
It has always been a dream of mine to be part of a large scale music festival. I’ve been going to concerts and festivals since I was 15 years old and I knew that one day I would be working at one. Early May 2023, VOX DJs was hired to provide DJ/MC + Karaoke entertainment for the Jack Daniels tent at the BeachLife Festival! This was a huge milestone and goal for our company and we finally did it! Since we’re mostly known for working private events, we had a few lifestyle public events that we wanted to branch into. I was so happy and proud to be able to work the event by capturing content for our marketing. We’re still so amazed that we got to work alongside so many huge artists.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
The advice I have for managing a team is to understand each person and their specific communication style. Not only does everyone work differently, but they also communicate differently. It’s imperative to create a personal connection with each person and make the time to hear about their experience, understand their goals, and work with them to achieve those goals. Checking in with them often helps build value and worth within the relationship. Leading by example is key. When we speak from a place of positivity, empathy, and encouragement it creates a strong trusting foundation. Everyone deserves to experience a safe and healthy work enviornment.
