We were lucky to catch up with Tangi Allison recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tangi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I am very happy with what i do. I’ve been working more than half of my life & this by far has been the best experience. When my boys were younger, i was a single parent & it killed me to work as hard and long for someone else… to never see my children was hard. My kids would tell me they hated not seeing me and it broke my heart. Being able to have a husband now who believes in you and gives you the opportunity to step out on faith is amazing. It is hard work for sure but I would never want to go back to a “regular job”.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is tangi Allison, I’ve always been a “hustler” and “entrepreneur” but 2020 inspired me to turn it up a bit. I had just had my daughter and Covid happened. I stayed home with her instead of returning to work and decided to venture out. I started with girl clothing and treats . I started with tutus and onesies and then moved to shoes and now jean outfits etc. what sets me apart from most business people is my natural customer service skills. I’ve always been a people’s person but i genuinely believe in treating people how you would want to be and going the extra mile to make their day. I think those are the things i am most proud of, my morals. I want my customers to know that i could not do any of this without you.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
In order to build audience, there has to be thorough content posted. Stay engaged with your customers. Ask customers to leave reviews. Just offering small tokens of thank you’s will have your audience talking for you & helping you gain more customers.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
It started as a side hustle. However, as we all know that leveling up is required at some point or another. I started to get comfortable with my hustle and that, However, did not always go well. Everything nowadays requires a paper trail. I had to start to get legit if i wanted the world to be serious about what i am doing. My husband bought me my LLC for valentines and that had to be one of the greatest gifts of all time. Since then I’ve been turning up.
