We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taneeyah & Meniyah Biscette. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taneeyah & Meniyah below.
Taneeyah & Meniyah , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
We knew at age 13 that we wanted to pursue a creative and artistic path. At that time we were just getting into social media and realizing they we could display our dancing and singing talents to the world rather than just locally at talent shows or dance competitions.
Taneeyah & Meniyah , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We got started dancing and performing on stage at the age of 3 when our mom enrolled us in dance classes. We began to train in ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary and hip hop styles of dance. We continued to train in dance until our senior year in high school. We took theater classes along the way and have been on dance teams, numerous dance productions, talent shows, community events and even acted in plays from the age of 3. We started taking singing lessons at 8 years old. and continued vocal training up to now. We are known as the “TM Twins” on social media with a following of over 3million across all platforms. With our talents we now work for several different brands to promote their products and services on social media using our dance and theatrical abilities and we also have released music with our sister R&B group Cette 3. Once we realized our talents were getting recognized we decided to start our own company called TMK Influence, LLC in 2020 to offer our talents more formally as a group and as individuals. We recently dropped a mixtape on TM Twins YouTube where we along with our younger sister in the group Krislyn Biscette wrote all the lyrics and co-produced all of the songs. As musical artists we have performed at numerous events while in high school and have landed publishing deals. We now attend Clark Atlanta University as sophomores pursuing a degree in Mass Media Arts concentrating on film, tv and radio. As content creators and brand ambassadors we are able to satisfy the marketing needs of the company and bring awareness to their brand with our on camera creativity and positive content. This helps the businesses increase their revenue. As far as our music, we focus on creating a smooth vibe sound to make our listeners feel at ease and just know they can enjoy life. At this point we are most proud of all that we have accomplished at only 19 and our ability to stay true to who we are no matter what is happening around us. We want to be known as the go to marketing/entertainment group who can provide positive, entertaining, creative and eye-catching content that can elevate any brand, product or service mainly through dance and music.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Once we realized that we could show our talents to the world on social media we decided to brand ourselves as dancers first starting in the 8th grade. We would post our own choreography on Instagram sometimes daily and each day we would get more and more comments and followers. We partnered up with other dancers and posted dances with them as well. By our sophomore year after pushing so much of our content and staying true to our brand as dancers we were getting noticed by artists, blogs and other sites who began to repost us and l hire us to promote music through dance. By January of 2020 we had built a following from 1200 in 2018 to 30k followers. By June of 2020 we grew to 60k. Then got noticed by a famous YouTuber and from there we grew to 1million followers by September of 2021. We started integrating our other talents throughout this time like singing and acting as well. We made sure we researched throughout this time on how to create content and the best video angles and music to use. We still do this in order to stay up to date with the changes. The advice we can give is to find whatever your talent or calling is, create content around that and be your own cheerleader day in and day out on social media. Post on a schedule and always stay in tune with the constant changes in the industry..
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
We believe that society has to understand that all artists are different and be ok with that. Everything doesn’t always have to be. trend. Society should not downplay artists or not support them because they may not do what everyone else does. They should respect creativity in artists
