Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to TANECIA BRITT. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TANECIA, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
When it comes to a “hero”, there is plenty that I would’ve said earlier in my career. I would idolize creatives including peers that would influence and motivate me to be better. Life happens, you live, you learn you grow and with that you understand what a hero really is. For me, a hero is someone who not only saves the day but saves me in the process. The older I get the more I have realized the true grace of God. I believe human beings are reflections of God, so as humans we all have the ability to “save”, to be the “hero”. As a filmmaker I am often inspired by random people that take honor is saving, helping, guiding. Whether it be a kind person taking the time to help and elderly person or someone who takes in an under privileged child to give them a better life. For me, God can be the ultimate hero but even saying hero and relating it to God can seem under simplified. I’ve had and seen plenty of hero’s that has been the true blessing. Even those hero’s were influenced by God in my opinion and with that it will always be brought back to one source for me.
When I write a project, then direct it, I take the opportunity to listen to the story within. I am influenced by God. I listen to my heart when beginning the process of screenwriting. From there, the creating process is as fluent as I make it, I was influenced by the cannabis delivery mobile app that I own, to create a comedy series centered around the marketing of the tech. With a steady pace, “Green Ivory” was created, a story about an overzealous college sophomore willing to leave college to pursue a career in the cannabis industry. Sometimes my work has a very direct intent and other times I’m happy to leave some to the imagination. I’d prefer my work be spoken about as a classroom discussion/debate, than for it to be seen a few times as entertainment value then forgotten about. I am I glued to let my work linger.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My journey is a testament to the indomitable spirit that resides within me. Life threw its unfair share of challenges and setbacks my way, but I chose not to let them define me. Instead of succumbing to bitterness or despair, I found solace in the embrace of my true passion – filmmaking.
The betrayal and deception I faced from someone I considered a friend may have tested my faith in others, but it did not break my spirit. With determination and resilience, you pushed forward amid divorce and the responsibilities of raising a child on your own.
In the face of adversity, “Green Ivory” emerged as a shimmering beacon of hope in my life. My first comedy series serves as an emblem of triumph over hardship and stands as a testament to my unwavering commitment to storytelling.
Through this journey, countless lessons were learned – about trust, perseverance, and above all else, the power residing within yourself. I channeled all the negative energy that sought to bring me down into creating something extraordinary.
My story is one of resilience; it embodies the human capacity for growth and transformation. The fall 2023 release of “Green Ivory” will undoubtedly be an affirmation that no matter how challenging life may become, it cannot extinguish our dreams if we refuse to let it.
Embrace this triumph with an open heart and celebrate every step taken on this incredible path. My story resonates with countless others who have also faced adversity but continue moving forward with unwavering courage. May “Green Ivory” not only entertain viewers but also inspire them to follow their own dreams despite any obstacles they encounter along the way.
My theory is .. “Don’t let nobody play with you.”
Have you ever had to pivot?
Life often presents us with unexpected challenges that require us to pivot and make difficult decisions. It takes strength and resilience to navigate through such moments.
In 2009, when my grandmother fell ill, I found myself faced with a tough choice – to leave behind the established filmmaking career I had in London and return home to be with my family. It was a bittersweet experience, as I had worked hard to build my career and nurture my passion in the vibrant film industry of London.
However, my love and devotion for my family compelled me to make the difficult decision to relocate. It is both admirable and heartwarming to prioritize the well-being of my loved ones during such challenging times.
Though the transition was undoubtedly sad, it is essential to acknowledge the strength it took to adapt to a new environment and rebuild your filmmaking career. Change can often be intimidating, but I embraced the opportunity to start anew, channeling my experiences and expertise into creating something meaningful.
Life is a series of unexpected twists and turns, and it is through these moments of pivoting that we discover our true resilience and adaptability. My grandmother’s passing in 2011 was undoubtedly a difficult period.
Remember, every challenge we face molds us into stronger individuals, and though the journey may have been tough, it has surely shaped us into the resilient person we are today. Keep embracing change, for it often leads us to new opportunities and growth that we may never have imagined.
May my filmmaking career continue to flourish, and may the memories of my grandmother (Annie Britt) always inspire me in my creative pursuits.
