We recently connected with Tanaya Khadke and have shared our conversation below.
Tanaya , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
In the dynamic field of motion design, there are several notable trends that have shaped the industry and influenced the way we create engaging content. As a creative professional, it is crucial to stay informed about these trends and adapt to the changing demands and preferences of clients and audiences .Motion design has evolved beyond its roots in animation and has encompassed various forms of art, including contemporary art. While motion design remains a powerful medium of communication and advertising, it has also gained prominence in portraying brands through visual assets such as images, illustrations, paintings, and computer-generated graphics in motion. One significant trend in the industry is the utilization of technological advancements to create captivating content. While technology plays a crucial role, the core focus remains on effective storytelling and concept development. Motion design continues to embrace new tools and techniques, allowing designers to explore a wide range of possibilities. The integration of 3D elements alongside 2D animation has become increasingly prevalent, providing more opportunities for creativity and diverse visual styles.
As a budding motion designer, I find great excitement in this evolving trend. It opens up avenues for experimenting with different concepts and styles, pushing the boundaries of creativity. The combination of 2D and 3D elements offers a rich and dynamic visual experience, adding depth and realism to motion design projects.
However, it is important to recognize the challenges that come with keeping up with the fast-paced technological advancements in motion design. The shift from 2D to 3D and the potential influence of AI on visual styles present both opportunities and uncertainties. While technology may continue to evolve, I firmly believe that the essence and quality of production will always remain in the hands of the creators. Our ability to craft compelling narratives and deliver impactful messages through motion design will continue to be at the forefront.
It is worth mentioning the groundbreaking film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” which has showcased the immense potential of the motion design industry. It demonstrated how motion design can reach new heights as a medium of artistic expression, whether in 2D or 3D.
In conclusion, the motion design industry is constantly evolving, with trends shifting and new possibilities emerging. As a motion designer, I am inspired by these trends and eager to explore the creative opportunities they present. By staying attuned to the latest advancements, embracing new technologies, and nurturing our storytelling abilities, we can continue to shape the future of motion design and create impactful visual experiences.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my journey in art and design at an early age, driven by a deep passion and focus for creative expression. Influenced by my mother’s artistic pursuits, I was captivated by the world of art, which ultimately led me to pursue a career in applied arts. Although I initially aspired to become an artist or sculptor, my interests gradually shifted towards the realm of applied arts as I grew older. Hailing from India, a country with a rich cultural heritage and diverse art forms, I believe that art and design transcend mere professions and become an integral part of life itself.
Recognizing my potential and interest in commercial arts, I enrolled in a design college and graduated from MSU, Baroda, Faculty of Fine Arts. Animation became my chosen specialisation, and during my studies, I further honed my skills in cinematography, photography, and animation. As I completed my degree, I delved into online tutorials and resources to expand my knowledge and proficiency in animation, which eventually led me to explore and develop my skills in illustration.
Interestingly, my mother’s profession in education as a founder of a Kindergarten and elementary school played a significant role in shaping my artistic journey. Collaborating with her, I created illustrations for children’s books and book covers for her kindergarten and elementary school. This experience allowed me to gain valuable exposure and served as a stepping stone for my part-time work as an illustrator. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with two publications, crafting illustrations for children’s books.
While pursuing my bachelor’s degree, I sought an internship in motion design at an advertising agency. Starting as an intern, I continued working there for about a year, immersing myself in the world of motion design. As time went on, I realised my desire to further enhance my skills and refine my expertise in this field. Subsequently, I applied to the esteemed Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia, where I was offered a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in motion design.
Today, I am a 2D/3D Motion Designer & Illustrator based in Savannah, specialising in illustrative motion design. I find great joy in creating illustrations for children’s books, and my experience in motion design at an advertising agency has provided me with valuable insights into the effective use of motion design for branding purposes. I thrive on challenging projects that allow me to solve design problems and contribute to compelling campaigns. Outside of work, I find solace in gardening and practising yoga.
My journey began as an aspiring artist, and while studying Moving Images for my bachelor’s degree, I discovered my passion for motion design and embarked on a journey of self-learning. This led to my work as a motion designer and eventually brought me to the United States to pursue higher education. Since graduating, I have been freelancing for motion design roles, participating in competitions, and curating designs for social media platforms. This position aligns perfectly with my skill set, and I am thrilled to collaborate with the creative team.
Throughout my journey, I have come to love the fusion and integration of different skill sets, including illustration, animation, motion, and 3D. I am driven to further explore and enhance these mediums to create engaging visuals. I am committed to continuous growth in the industry, expanding my knowledge in motion design and illustration. Concept building and helping brands communicate their visual identity are at the forefront of my creative process, and I relish the opportunity to solve problems and create impactful 2D illustrations.
I have learned that the journey may be gradual, but the lessons gleaned from it are invaluable. Every detail, every experience contributes to shaping my perspective on creating engaging visuals, and I embrace each opportunity for growth and learning.
As I continue to evolve and refine my craft, I am excited about the limitless possibilities that lie ahead in the world of art and design. The blend of creativity, innovation, and problem-solving fuels my passion, and I eagerly anticipate the chance to make a lasting impact through my work as an individual artist and freelancer in the motion and illustration industry.

One recent source of inspiration for me has been the film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Its stunning visuals and the conversations I had with friends about the film made me realise the potential for great work and the importance of consistency in pursuing what I love. It ignited a desire within me to be a part of something extraordinary, something that I can truly be proud of. I am truly proud of where I am but I am in the process where this success takes me ahead and I hope to reach a successful position as an artist as a freelance motion designer and illustrator.
Consistency and continuous growth are crucial aspects of my goal. I am dedicated to constantly learning, evolving, and pushing myself to new heights. I believe that this commitment to improvement is what drives me to put in the necessary efforts and strive for excellence.
