We recently connected with Tamra Simmons and have shared our conversation below.
Tamra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
For me, the journey from idea to execution wasn’t a straight line. It started with a desire to create opportunities rather than wait for them.
I grew up understanding the importance of resilience, resourcefulness, and creating your own path. As my career evolved, I found myself working across multiple industries, including entertainment, marketing, business consulting, and entrepreneurship. What I kept noticing was that many talented people had great ideas but lacked the strategy, connections, or execution plan needed to bring those ideas to life.
The idea behind my businesses was born from solving problems I was already helping people solve every day. Whether it was helping a company grow its brand, assisting a client with business strategy, or developing television and documentary projects, I realized there was an opportunity to build organizations that could provide those services at a higher level.
The first step wasn’t creating a logo or launching a website. It was learning. I spent countless hours researching, networking, attending industry events, asking questions, and understanding how successful companies were built. I focused on relationships and credibility before I focused on scale.
From there, I began putting structure around the vision. That meant forming business entities, creating processes, building a network of collaborators, securing clients, and investing back into the business. Every new project taught me something. Every challenge forced me to improve systems and become a better leader.
In the entertainment space, that meant learning how projects move from concept to development, packaging, and ultimately to buyers. In marketing and consulting, it meant understanding how to deliver measurable results while building long-term client relationships.
The reality is that there wasn’t one single breakthrough moment. There were hundreds of small decisions made consistently over time. Some days were exciting, and some were frustrating. There were moments when I questioned whether I was moving fast enough and moments when opportunities appeared that completely changed my trajectory.
What allowed me to move beyond the idea phase was taking action before everything felt perfect. I learned that entrepreneurship is often about figuring things out while moving forward. Every client, every project, every pitch, and every relationship helped build the foundation that exists today.
Looking back, the biggest lesson is that execution matters more than inspiration. Great ideas are everywhere. The real challenge is showing up consistently, solving problems, building relationships, and continuing to move forward even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m an entrepreneur, executive producer, marketer, and business strategist who has spent my career helping people turn ideas into opportunities. My journey has never fit neatly into a single industry. I’ve worked across entertainment, media, marketing, consulting, and business development, and what ties all of it together is storytelling.
I began my career helping businesses and entrepreneurs build visibility, grow their brands, and create sustainable strategies for success. Over time, that passion for storytelling evolved into television and film development, where I founded Live Always Productions. Today, I develop and produce documentary, unscripted, scripted, and impact-driven content while also leading marketing initiatives and consulting projects through my other business ventures.
At Live Always Productions, we focus on finding compelling stories that entertain, educate, and inspire. We work with authors, subject matter experts, public figures, and everyday people who have extraordinary stories to tell. Our goal is to help transform intellectual property, life rights, books, and concepts into television, film, and digital content that can reach audiences around the world.
In addition to production, I also work in marketing and brand strategy, helping businesses strengthen their visibility, connect with their audiences, and create meaningful growth. Whether I’m helping a wellness company increase its reach, advising a business owner on strategy, or developing a television project, my approach is the same: identify the story, create the strategy, and execute with purpose.
What sets me apart is that I don’t simply focus on ideas. I focus on execution. Many people have great concepts, but they struggle to understand how to move those ideas from vision to reality. I enjoy helping bridge that gap. I understand both the creative and business sides of development, which allows me to see opportunities that others may miss.
One of the things I’m most proud of is building a career that wasn’t handed to me. Every opportunity, relationship, project, and accomplishment has come through persistence, hard work, and a willingness to keep learning. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of developing projects, working with talented creatives, speaking to aspiring entrepreneurs, and helping others believe in the value of their own stories.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand, it’s that I genuinely believe stories have the power to change lives. Whether through a television series, documentary, marketing campaign, business strategy, or personal conversation, my mission is to help people recognize the value of their experiences and create opportunities from them.
At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to impact, authenticity, and ownership. I believe creators, entrepreneurs, and visionaries should understand the value of what they are building and have the tools and support necessary to bring those ideas to life.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation was built through consistency, relationships, and a genuine commitment to helping people succeed.
Early in my career, I learned that opportunities often come from the way you treat people long before there’s a business deal on the table. I focused on building authentic relationships, delivering on my commitments, and being someone people could trust. Over time, those relationships turned into referrals, partnerships, and opportunities that helped expand my reach across multiple industries.
I also wasn’t afraid to do the work. Whether I was helping a client solve a business challenge, developing a television project, creating a marketing strategy, or mentoring an aspiring entrepreneur, I approached each opportunity with the same level of professionalism and dedication. People remember how you make them feel, but they also remember whether you deliver results.
Another factor that helped build my reputation was my willingness to continue learning and evolving. I’ve never viewed myself as someone who has all the answers. Instead, I’ve always remained curious, asked questions, sought out mentors, and stayed open to growth. That mindset has allowed me to navigate different industries while continuing to create value for the people I work with.
Most importantly, I try to lead with integrity. In business, your reputation is one of your most valuable assets. Skills can be learned and opportunities can come and go, but trust is earned over time. I believe my reputation today is the result of years of showing up consistently, treating people with respect, honoring my word, and remaining committed to creating meaningful impact through my work.
If I had to summarize it in one sentence, I would say my reputation was built by focusing on relationships over transactions and long-term value over short-term wins.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned about leadership is that people want to feel valued, heard, and connected to the mission. Compensation and benefits matter, but morale is often built through trust, communication, and a sense of purpose.
I believe great leaders create environments where team members understand not only what they’re doing, but why they’re doing it. When people can see how their work contributes to the bigger picture, they become more invested in the outcome.
Communication is also critical. I’ve found that many workplace issues can be avoided when expectations are clear and team members feel comfortable sharing ideas, concerns, and feedback. I try to create a culture where people know their voices matter and where wins are celebrated, both big and small.
Another important factor is leading by example. Teams pay close attention to how leaders respond to challenges, setbacks, and success. If you want accountability, positivity, and professionalism from your team, you have to model those behaviors consistently.
I also believe in recognizing people for more than just their job titles. Everyone brings unique strengths, perspectives, and talents to the table. When leaders take the time to understand those strengths and create opportunities for growth, people tend to feel more engaged and motivated.
Most importantly, I try to remember that business is ultimately about people. High-performing teams are built on relationships, trust, respect, and shared goals. When people feel appreciated and supported, morale naturally improves, and great work tends to follow.
My advice is simple: invest in your people, communicate often, celebrate progress, and create a culture where everyone feels like they are part of building something meaningful.
