We were lucky to catch up with Tammy Thompson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tammy , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My most meaningful project is filming and producing the music video “Hold Me Father” for Lynnmarie Hinerman. Lynnmarie has an amazing testimony, and this song tells a powerful story. She wrote and produced the song “Hold Me Father” twenty years ago when she was battling throat cancer that threatened to take away her voice. When God miraculously healed her, He told her He saved her voice, and she was to use it for His glory.
My vision for this music video was to capture it with a cinematic appeal that would captivate the audience. I wanted to show Lynnmarie in a beautiful light that emphasized the song’s lyrics. The goal was to move the audience when they watched it.
This music video has received several music video awards and is still up for many more in the coming months. It is truly my most blessed client job and I am grateful to have been a part of this project.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started as a wedding and portrait photographer in 2004. I focused my early years on perfecting my photography. I didn’t want to be an average photographer, so I invested many years into print competitions because it forced me to perfect the way I took images, and how I processed and edited them. Over the years, I have won many photography awards both at the state and national level, including being awarded Maryland Photographer Of The Year thrice. It was such an honor and through those years of investing in my craft; I became a dedicated photographer of excellence.
My business direction has changed over the years. While I still capture a few personal and family portraits, my primary focus is on entrepreneurs. I have a desire to help business owners and creative artists who need professional images for their websites and social media platforms. I want my clients to be successful in their areas of art and business. I have a creative style and a dedication to detail that meets and exceeds my clients’ expectations for both film and photography work. Having outstanding photography and video helps my clients stand out against their competitors.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What drives me is the ability to use my gifts, talent, and skills to make the world a better place. I always want to produce the best work I can and have it benefit my clients to help them in their business or artist area. Seeing my clients’ reactions to my work is so rewarding.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is seeing what all my hard work produces. I never cut corners and I invest all my effort into each project to get it just right. I strive toward the vision and I don’t quit.
A good example is when I was filming the indoor barn parts of the “Hold Me Father” music video. It was in the upper 90s that day. We were in a barn with little air circulation and a few fans. It was so hot that a bird flew in and, in less than an hour, dropped dead from the heat. Lynnmarie was a trooper that day as she sang take after take until I captured all the footage needed for the music video.
This is an example of my diligence in not quitting, even if the circumstances are demanding. It was worth it, as I shared earlier. This music video has received many awards and blesses many people.
