Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tammy McMahan . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tammy , thanks for joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
A pet sitter can encounter many of issues when owners are out of town. Me being a veteranary nurse, I notice more things than most pet sitters. One is geriatric pets and kidney disease. Excessive drinking, large urine out ours, licking on the lips, vomiting excessively, then of course lethargy.
Sometimes owners don’t see some of these signs before they leave town. When we notice, we document everything so we can tell vets office when we end of taking the he animal in to he diagnosis.
We end up administered the subcutaneous fluids and cerenia, most of the time an antibiotic is prescribed by regular veterinarian along with this cerenia/fluids.
Once veterinary hospital diagnosis and stabilizes the family pet, we continue to care at home till owners arrive home safely to care for them on their own.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Tammy McMahan, I got into veterinary medicine in 1980, it was a long time dream of mine to care for animals. Upon graduation, I started Alone at Home Pet Services Inc while I managed a veteranary hospital. I had the best support of my husband, whom is also my business partner.. I had decided that our services would not be just a pet sitting, dog walking services for all species, because owners wanted them to be home in their own environment, but to add supervised veterinary animal hospice, compassionate care as well. I wanted us to stand out, to be unique.
It’s now been 27 years now, and we have accomplished to be different and provide the best care for people family pets at home with no stress involved.
Our staff are all certified in Pet CPR/ First Aid, back ground checked, bonded and insured and professional trained in animal care.
We love our job and being family owned and operated has it’s benefits.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I honestly believe that trust not only with animals but owners as well is a major goal. Word of mouth can damage you or excel you. We thrive on doing everything we tell our owners we will do and most the me we go up and beyond their expectations.
We how up
We care
And it shows.
