We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tammy Le . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tammy below.
Hi Tammy, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
Growing up, my parents had a profound impact on my life. At the age of 9, my parents got divorced and my mother became a single parent. Despite the challenges, she instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility and discipline, which has helped me become independent and self-sufficient. My father, on the other hand, consistently demonstrated integrity and always kept his word and promises, influencing me to value honesty in both my personal and professional life. His positivity and strength, even during his prolonged illness and before his passing, taught me to face challenges and setbacks with optimism. And even though I was rebellious and caused trouble in my youth, my parents’ guidance helped me mature into a responsible adult and they’ve always supported me in my chosen major and career.
My mom and dad also taught me the value of hard work at a young age. My mom would take me to work with her when I was really young, and during middle and high school, I would help my dad working with him at his restaurant or helping him sell furniture at the swap meet on weekends. These experiences taught me the importance of being responsible and dependable, which has definitely impacted my personal and professional endeavors.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a teenager, I attended many events with my best friend and business partner, Linda Nguyen. Through these events, we were exposed to a wide range of music and had the opportunity to meet many amazing people. I grew to love the idea of events as unique and memorable experiences that bring people together. We even started coordinated hip hop shows at a young age, during which I met will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. I started working for Will as his executive assistant in 2009 and then as his Director of Communications since 2014.
In 2009, Linda and I founded LoveMade, a design, consulting, marketing, and events agency that focuses on women. In 2018, I shifted my focus on building LoveMade Events. Despite having full-time jobs, LoveMade has always been our passion project, founded on the idea of pursuing something from the heart and inspiring others to do what they love. One of the things that makes me happy and proud about LoveMade is that it is focused on uplifting women and our mission is to empower them to follow their passions and achieve their dreams.
I have recently been working on a new event series called Self Love Lessons: The Day Retreat. These retreats are similar to the wellness workshops I have previously organized, but are longer and include more activities and workshops focused on personal and professional growth, self-care and self-love. I have teamed up with Joanne and Donna from Ladies First to coordinate these retreats. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for women to come together and focus on their own well-being and self-care. We want to help women connect with themselves and each other, and to learn and grow in a positive and nurturing environment. Our retreats offer attendees the opportunity to escape the demands of their daily lives for a day and focus on their own well-being. We believe that self-love is an important foundation for overall happiness and success, and we hope to empower our attendees to cultivate self-love and make it a priority in their personal and professional lives. Our next Self Love Lessons day retreat will be held on Sunday, March 26th at The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe that consistency in the types of events we coordinate has played a crucial role in building LoveMade’s reputation. By focusing on events that empower and support women, we are able to align our brand values and mission with the events we produce. This consistency has helped establish LoveMade as a reputable and credible brand within the industry.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Collaboration and social media are powerful tools for attracting new clients. By partnering with other companies on events, we are able to access their networks and followers, expanding our reach. Additionally, utilizing Instagram ads to promote our events helps increase visibility and reach a wider audience. Another strategy is just direct messaging people on Instagram to connect with them, or reaching out to brands and individuals through email by searching for email contacts on websites and Instagram profiles. These methods have proven to be effective in promoting our events, gaining new clients and building our network.
