We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tammy Knox a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tammy , appreciate you joining us today. So, what do you think about family businesses? Would you want your children or other family members to one day join your business?
Family businesses are great, especially if you have a close knit family where all the members work together using their varied talents and skills. All the members of my household have an entrepreneurial spirit. We’re a very close knit, creative, and innovative family. We’re actually involved in many different businesses such as real estate investing, writing, the arts and much more. Each family member uses their own unique skills or interests to the benefit of each business. My family has been invaluable to me in helping me publish my book and encourage me with my ScoliCharms business.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Tammy Knox, stay at home mom, author, and entrepreneur. I’ve written and published “Trapped on the Titanic”, a children’s historical fiction mystery and ghost story. I’m currently working on other stories and hope to publish soon. I’ve also turned my book into a screenplay, which led to my being commissioned to write a screenplay for the Titanic Museum Attraction. I’m also the creator and co-designer of ScoliCharms Scoliosis Awareness Jewelry. I also have a blog titled “Saving Samantha Conquering Scoliosis without Surgery”, where I hope to help raise awareness about Scoliosis and alternative treatments for Scoliosis.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Concerning my ScoliCharms business, my goal is to help raise awareness of Scoliosis. ScoliCharms are designed with the intent of drawing attention and leading to questions. When I’ve worn my charm, I’ve had people ask about it, which gives me an opportunity to tell them my story. My blog “Saving Samantha Conquering Scoliosis without Surgery” is also intended to raise awareness of Scoliosis and alternative treatments that are effective, though not well known.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to create what I want and how I want it. When I designed my book cover for “Trapped on the Titanic” I knew what I wanted and made it happen. The same with my ScoliCharm’s designs. Being able to visualize what you want, design it, and then hold the finished product and see your ideas come to life is amazing.
