Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tammy Griggs. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tammy, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I think about my legacy all the time, as a mom and as a business woman and I hope it’s one and the same. If I could have a legacy of helping people, I would be extremely proud of that. A dear friend of mine named Laurie D’Angelo, had a profound affect on me. Her funeral was standing room only and the most beautiful thing I’ve ever been to. So many people told story after story of how she helped them in some way. I remember being in awe at how this small woman changed all of these peoples lives for the better just by offering them help. We were all grieving at what we had lost, this safe person, a person you could always turn to in times of trouble, someone that was always there for you no matter what with her wisdom and guidance. It was a huge loss! Thinking of her reminds me of something Mr. Roger’s used to say, “look for the helpers, you will always find people who are helping”. Laurie was that person and she still inspires me all these years later!
So, I hope people will remember all of the times I’ve helped them in some way or made a difference in their lives. Maybe I helped them achieve better health or URTHCUR made them feel better. That would make me happy!
And as Laurie would say, “if you can’t find a helper, BE ONE!” The world needs exactly that right now.
Tammy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Tammy Griggs and I am the creator of URTHCUR Wellness Tonic. It is made with all natural organic ingredients of ginger, horseradish root, garlic, onion, peppers, elderberry, lemon, and apple cider vinegar. It comes in 5 flavor combinations to suit everyone and it will boost your immune system if taken at the first sign of illness. If you enjoy natural remedies, then URTHCUR is for you! I am extremely proud when customers say they can’t live without it or that it is the only thing that helps them feel better.
For the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people near the end of their lives and it always saddens me that that’s when most people start taking better care of themselves and it’s almost always too late at that point. I thought what if I could reach people before they get there? Before they get that diagnosis of ill health. Maybe that’s my purpose, my mission. So don’t wait until then. Take care of yourself now because “a healthy person has a 1,000 wishes, a sick person just one”.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
URTHCUR started out as something I made and donated to my children’s school for a fundraiser. It became quite popular rather quickly as more and more people requested it. It sold out every time I made it. Being a solopreneur wasn’t my original intention. I asked another mom to collaborate with me but she turned me down three times. Maybe she didn’t see what I saw. But I kept pursuing it because I believed in it so much and little by little it became a thing. So I like to say that URTHCUR chose me and the rest is history! So, even if no one else believes in you or your idea, you have to believe in yourself and keep going!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I get my inspiration from several sources. I love Sara Blakely (SPANX founder) and her rise to the top. She’s an absolutely incredible business woman and entrepreneur! Grant Cardone (Undercover Billionaire & 10X) gives a masterclass in business know-how and scaling that no one else can touch! His Business Bootcamp is legendary. Also one of my all time favorite books on negotiations is by Chris Voss “Never Split the Difference”. This book was critical for a very successful high stakes negotiations I was involved in. He will teach you to handle even the toughest of negotiations in your professional and personal life. I can’t recommend it enough!
