Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tammy Dutton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tammy, thanks for joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
So many moments come to mind but especially this a Christmas after my fathers recent passing.
A smile, a kind word, a random text or a hug, an old photo or story shared these have been the nicest things ever done for me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I love to create and have since a young child, finding beauty in all of creation and some of the most unusual overlooked places. Artisans exist in every walk of life, be it literature, fashion, culinary, architecture, product labels even tombstones everyone is an artist not just the usual suspects. My Grandmothers taught me to make do with things around me and find new ways of creating something from items on hand. Seeing things not as for what they were created for but what they could become either to fill a need or by bringing joy in their simple beauty.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Completing something I personally love and having it bring joy to another person is not only rewarding but very fulfilling.

Have you ever had to pivot?
During a nasty divorce I had to walk away from creating and I went into survival mode. My sources of connection with customers, friends, artisans at that time were my blog and local events.
When I finally was emotionally & mentally ready to return to creating, many years later, only a few customers & friends remained. I had to learn new ways to share my passion with others and restart my sales all while working a full time job. My pivot was learning to use new social media platforms and word of mouth to start over again.
