We recently connected with Tammi Taylor and have shared our conversation below.
Tammi , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Yes, I wish I would’ve started my business in 2014 when I created the name. I initially wanted to sell hair extension but when I saw how all the salon owners lacked hair products that work for our hair type and issues I wanted to use my knowledge to created hair products. I met Jennifer my co-curator in 2018 and we started to talk about products and I asked her would she help me with mine and she said she was interested because she was creating her own so we worked to get our products together and tackle the current challenges minority hair textures face with our hair and scalp. We launched our products in 2019 and career wise I was working my job then for about 3 years, if I would’ve started selling my products before they were ready or before I met Jennifer they probably wouldn’t be as great of a product as they are. I think 1 thing I would change is where I invest money into. Marketing and branding is more vital than anything when it comes to the success of your business.
Tammi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

How’d you meet your business partner?
I actually me my business partner from DM’ing her about an ad she was running on Instagram for major curls. We been cool ever since. I spoke to her one time about products and she said she was making her own but when I was really sure on what I wanted to do I reached back out and we worked together ever since.
Have you ever had to pivot?
During COVID we had to really pivot our business because we ended up cancelling all the hair and trade show events that we were interested in going to to brand and market and focus on ways to market and do them online. This was very hard because now the market is saturated with celebrities and Influencers who have products and it’s now even harder to be noticed for your products as a curator. Currently we have a podcast and are also influencers in the community and hope this will help us become more noticeable in the market to sell higher number of products and create healthy heads all over the world.
