We were lucky to catch up with Tammi Rogers recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tammi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I didn’t create my business idea alone. Much of the inspiration came from my business partner, Director Dexter Brains of Brains Concept Studios.
When we met in January 2024, Dexter was searching for a casting director and film crew members to help bring his 30-plus scripts to life. As we worked together on his first film, Night Haul: Nocturnal Nemesis, he often introduced me as “Dr. Tammi Rogers of Tammi Rogers Industries.”
I immediately loved the name and asked him where it came from. He replied, “Doc, you’re a conglomerate all by yourself. You’re an actor, casting director, producer, acting coach, script supervisor, film crew member, speaker, singer, and stage props manager. You’re already your own business.”
His words made me realize he was right. On nearly every independent film set, I was serving in multiple roles and helping solve a variety of production challenges. I already had the skills, experience, and passion to support others in the industry.
That realization sparked a new vision—and Tammi Rogers Industries was born.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am Tammi Rogers, a Baltimore native who has been passionate about the arts since age 3, attending stage plays and concerts with my mother. I am a natural performer with a commanding presence both on and off stage.
With 39 years of experience, I am an award-winning actor, director, acting coach, producer, casting director, singer, speaker, and film/stage crew member. In 2018, I became the Resident Acting Coach for The Actors Academy DMV, which offers training to actors across the D.C./Maryland/Virginia (DMV) area.
I am the founder of Tammi Rogers Industries, a full-service entertainment company in partnership with Brains Concept Studios. Together, we provide acting, coaching, producing, filming, crew support, and props management in the DMV area.
Tammi Rogers Industries is a brand created to support actors at every stage, with a strong focus on building confidence, strengthening craft, and bringing clarity to how actors show up professionally. Through acting coaching, classes, and practical training on casting submissions, the brand offers guidance on headshots, resumes, reels, and overall presentation, along with tools, checklists, and learning resources. Led by an experienced actor, coach, producer, speaker, and mentor, it blends real industry experience with hands-on teaching. Launched in 2025, the brand grows from decades of acting, coaching, and production work, in partnership with Brains Concept Studios.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation in the DMV entertainment community was built through years of consistent work, professionalism, relationship-building, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. By serving as an actor, casting director, acting coach, producer, and crew member, I gained a unique understanding of the industry from multiple perspectives. People came to trust me not only for my experience, but also for my ability to connect talented individuals with meaningful opportunities. Over time, those relationships, combined with a strong work ethic and commitment to service, became the foundation of my reputation.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
What began as a side hustle became my full-time career after retiring from the federal government. I started acting at age 20, and as my network grew throughout the DMV acting community, casting directors and producers often reached out to me because of my connections with local talent. Through those referrals, I discovered a natural ability for matching the right actors with the right roles, which ultimately led me to become a casting director.
Some key milestones were the following:
Age 20 – Began acting journey.
Years Later – Built a respected network throughout the DMV entertainment community.
Growing Reputation – Became a go-to source for actor referrals.
Career Expansion – Discovered a gift for casting and talent placement.
Casting Director – Transitioned into casting for film and stage projects.
Federal Retirement – Retired after 37 years of government service.
New Chapter – Turned a lifelong passion for entertainment into a full-time career.
