Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tamika Thomas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tamika, thanks for joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Sometimes the moment that changes your life isn’t wrapped in warm fuzzies. It feels like a gut punch that knocks the wind out of you. I still remember that day. My boss said something that hit me harder than I expected. It wasn’t even what was said—it was the realization behind it. I walked away feeling undervalued, underappreciated, and honestly…unseen.
But in that very moment, something in me shifted. I realized no one was going to give me the worth I deserved unless I owned it myself. That moment—though painful—lit a fire in me. It was the spark that made me say, “No more.”
From that day on, I made a vow to myself. I enrolled in school, started a self-love journey, and made a promise that I would be, do, and have everything I knew I deserved. I wasn’t waiting for someone else to recognize my value anymore—I was going to show up for myself.
Sometimes, the most defining moments don’t feel good, but they push us exactly where we need to be. Don’t ignore those moments, even when they hurt. They could be the very thing that sets your life on a whole new trajectory. If you’ve ever felt unseen or undervalued, take that as a cue to start betting on yourself. You are worth everything you dream of.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Tamika Thomas, and I am the founder of Tuesday with Tamika Coaching and Consulting, a business focused on inner healing, mindset elevation, and relationship restoration. My journey into this industry came from my personal experiences as a single mom navigating through depression, low self-esteem, and financial hardship. I knew deep down that I didn’t want to repeat the cycle of generational trauma and poverty that I had seen, so I made a conscious decision to not only heal myself but also help others do the same.
My business offers a range of services, including one-on-one and group coaching, diversity and inclusion consulting, and leadership development. I also work with schools, offering social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons and restorative practices to create more inclusive environments. On the creative side, I provide tools like workbooks, journals, and podcasts, all designed to guide people toward personal and professional growth.
What sets me apart is my commitment to creating a space that’s accessible to everyone—whether it’s through flexible part-time positions for moms or partnering with businesses that share my values of healing and empowerment. I use free platforms like social media to reach a broad audience while offering services at lower prices compared to others in the industry.
I’m most proud of how much I’ve been able to accomplish with limited resources—like serving over 100 women through my signature coaching programs, speaking to thousands of students, and even hiring two part-time employees. For me, it’s all about lifting others as I climb, and I want my potential clients and followers to know that my work is more than just a business—it’s a mission to help people turn their trials into treasures. Through my services, I aim to inspire lasting change, healing, and growth in both individuals and communities.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn is this: my family are not my supporters—and that’s okay.
Coming from a big family and being the oldest, I used to make comments like, “I should be a millionaire already with all the family and friends I have!” But what I had to *relearn* was that my family is not my ideal customer, and it’s not their responsibility to build my dreams.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m so grateful for the family members who have supported my business goals, but realizing that it’s not their job to be my biggest cheerleaders has been incredibly freeing. Allowing my family to just be family and not expecting them to buy into everything I do has been a total game-changer for me.
This shift has opened up so much more peace in my relationships and allowed me to find my true audience without guilt or frustration. Sometimes, your biggest breakthroughs come when you release people from expectations they were never meant to carry.
If you’ve been expecting your family to fuel your dreams, give yourself permission to release that. Let them just be family, and trust that your real supporters will show up when you’re aligned with the right people and the right purpose. #Unlearning #FamilyLove #FreeingMyself #FindingMyTribe #EntrepreneurLife #BecomingHER
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Consistency has been the key to building my reputation in the marketplace. Let me be real—there have been plenty of days where I felt like a broken record, always talking about healing this and healing that. Sometimes, I wanted to switch things up because it seemed like other businesses were more lucrative or “trending.” But every time I considered it, something inside me reminded me that staying consistent and true to my mission was the long game I needed to play.
There were moments when the temptation to pivot was strong, but I knew deep down that what sets people apart isn’t just talent—it’s consistency. By showing up, staying “on brand,” and continuing to deliver on my message of healing, I’ve built an unshakable reputation.
And guess what? That consistency has led to tons of invites to speak at summits, share my story, and collaborate on platforms I never imagined I’d reach. People know exactly what I stand for, and because of that, they trust me. In a world full of constant noise and distractions, consistency speaks louder than anything.
So, if you’re ever doubting whether it’s worth sticking to your lane—remember, that’s exactly how you build a brand people know, trust, and remember. Stay the course, even when it feels repetitive. Consistency creates credibility.
