Tamika, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Would you say you are more focused on growing revenue or cutting costs? We’d love to hear how you think about these two critical drivers
I spend most of my time and energy on growing revenue. Growing revenue is important because it can directly impact my company’s bottom line by generating higher profits. Focusing on revenue growth can help my company expand its market share and reach new customers. I started out as a home based business which still runs today, and as of a year ago, I now have an office space that gave my company a physical location to conduct business and offer a wide range of services.

I’m a compassionate, kind, and vivacious person. She’s understanding and down to earth. She “LOVES” helping others! She has an attachment to sports, outdoors, art, nature and animals. Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I had an open and honest conversation with my fiancé about my business aspirations and financial goals. We begin discussing and planning together. This helped to ensure that both of us were comfortable with the arrangement and aligned in our shared objectives. I used my monetary birthday gifts to start my business. Every dollar went into purchasing notary essential training, background check, supplies, and office furniture.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I started out as Notary Signing Agent, and in a bustling time in the real estate industry, I was determined and passionate about learning how to conduct a loan signing. This profession required me to facilitate the signing of important legal documents for clients, such as affidavits, notes, mortgage (deed of trust), closing disclosures, and more. I was excited about starting my business and the opportunity to help people navigate through complex paperwork. I knew that attention to detail and being through were crucial in my line of work. However, I realize being a notary signing agent came with a demand. One particular signing service contacted me requesting my services for a last minute signing. The documents were time sensitive, and the signing service was under immense pressure to complete the transaction.
I accepted the assignment determined to deliver with exceptional service. When I arrived at the title company I discovered a second notary signing agent representing the seller side and who was notorious for being demanding and difficult in nature. I remained calm and composed, understanding that professional and resilience were essential in such a situation. As I begin explaining the documents to the buyer and guiding him through the signing process I encounter unexpected obstacles from the signing agent representing the seller side, making the process more time consuming and uncomfortable. However I remained calm and respectful. I was thinking the whole time that I was not moved and after working a decade with highschoolers. I was certainly equipped to get over those obstacles. As the signing was coming to an end, I was told I had to make copies with a small copier that prints extremely slowly.
I was determined to make each copy and not allow this to be a setback. I simply took my time and arranged the documents accordingly. The seller signing made rude comments and criticized my timing. However, I was able to return my documents to the signing service within the time required and received many more requests. My journey as a notary signing agent taught me resilience and I understood that I may be faced with set-backs, unpleasant parties. I learned I have the ability to adapt and remain polite and respectful while under pressure. Through my unwavering faith to be a successful notary signing agent I decided to expand my business and services.
