We were lucky to catch up with Tamieyah Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tamieyah, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I believe every project I am blessed to work on is meaningful, but in the past couple of months I’ve worked endlessly on a new musical project titled “Love Mie Now”. This musical work details the sound of self love; the healing of my younger self, the acknowledgement and forgiveness of my faults, the realization of my strength that comes from God, the promises of the future with affirmation of my worth and value in music and in the world and finally the declaration to prioritize my inner and outer health and wellbeing. It is a beautifully captured work that I believe all humans can relate to no matter where they are in their self love journey. The project will be available in the coming weeks. I am so excited to share it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi! I’m Tamieyah. A performing artist, singer, songwriter, and producer from Miami, Florida by way of Dallas, Texas. I am a southern girl with a love for all things music, arts, and connecting people through the power of creativity. Music has always been an integral part of my life, both sides of my family sing and prioritize a love for music so that raised me up from an early age to have confidence in and care for my gift. I currently have one album out on all digital streaming platforms, called “Mie” which charted on both Amazon and iTunes RnB Charts. And I will soon be releasing a new project called “Love Mie Now”.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
The one thing I have come to understand is that being a creative there is no linear path to success or “making it”. There are extreme highs and extreme lows. The moments of “stability” as an artist are segues for one of the aforementioned periods of life. So I am continuing to teach myself how to mentally and spiritually stay afloat when the rest of the world is “making it” and it seems like I’m stuck. My encouragement to any creator out there, we’re stuck. No matter what level of status, riches or fame, we are all pushing past moments that feel stagnant. So keep going, because you are really capable of seeing the highest joys of this life if you can hold on. My encouragement to the supporters of fellow creatives, SUPPORT! In any and every way you can, especially if you really resonate and align with the goals and vision of the creators around you. We are literally the most amazing kind of crazy people!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing how similar our stories truly are. There is not a human on Earth that cannot find some way to relate to another because there are so many things that connect us all. Music gives me the ability to translate all human experiences into a language that can be understood by anyone. Seeing people laugh, cry, or sing along when I’m performing let’s me know I’m not alone with any situation I face in my life. And it’s great to remind someone else that they aren’t alone either.
