Tamia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?

As a business owner, I’m overflowing with joy. Reflecting on my journey, I realize that God’s plan for me was different from what I initially envisioned. In high school, I applied to retail jobs to earn extra money, but despite my efforts, it didn’t work out. Looking back, I see that it wasn’t meant to be. Meanwhile, my passion for hair grew, and I started building my client base. What I didn’t know then was that this was God’s plan all along, and it’s exceeded my wildest expectations. I’m grateful that things unfolded the way they did, as I’ve discovered my true calling in providing exceptional service, expressing myself creatively, and forming meaningful connections with my clients.

My name is Tamia Vann, a 20-year-old cosmetology student and hairstylist with a passion for creating stunning looks. Growing up, I watched my mom, a seasoned cosmetologist, work heard doing what she loved, and I was inspired. I often attended work with her where I watched and sometimes assisted her with clients, learning the ins and outs of the industry, and developing my skills. As a hairstylist, I specialize in braid styles, wig installs, ponytails, and quick weaves. Im most proud of my strong work ethic and dedication to learning & perfecting my craft as well as delivering exceptional results. My goal is to understand your unique needs and preferences, and ensure you leave feeling confident and satisfied. I’m committed to meeting your expectations and exceeding them whenever possible.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I built my social media audience by consistently posting high-quality content, following industry trends, and creating engaging tutorials and videos. By leveraging Instagram Reels, Stories, and TikTok, I showcased my work and increased my online presence. Collaborating with other creators has also been instrumental in growing my following and attracting new clients. Through strategic content sharing and partnerships, I’ve been able to build a strong and engaged community.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

My hair journey began as a side hustle in high school, where I transformed my room into a mini salon, squeezing in clients on my least busiest days as I was balancing school, doing hair, and sports. But as I honed my skills, I realized my passion for hair went beyond just making extra cash – I wanted to build a career. With determination and hard work, I turned my dream into reality, getting my first suite at just 19. Now, I’m dedicated to helping others look and feel their best.
