We were lucky to catch up with Ta’Mia Holmes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ta’Mia , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope that my legacy will be one of inspiration and strength. Life is challenging enough within itself. I want someone to know that it’s still possible to still be successful and strong in the face of adversity.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am most proud of the fact that I am now an Author. For a good portion of my life, I loved reading and writing and wanted to become an Author. Last year, I released my debut novel, “The Teller’s Toll.” It brought tears to my eyes when I held a copy of my book. The book originated from a college assignment where we had to write a short story about making a deal with the Devil in exchange for one year off of someone’s life. Zora Neale Hurston is one of my favorite writers and I hope to have as much of an influence as she did.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Serving as an inspiration for another woman that looks like me is driving my creative journey. I want other black women with a passion for writing to know that if I could do it, so can they.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met my business partner, my husband, three years ago on Facebook Dating. He’s been extremely helpful in my writing journey and doesn’t shy away from lending a helping hand. He has also assisted with my ideas and offered feedback on my work at times. I am very thankful to him for doing what he does for me in my writing journey.
