We caught up with the brilliant and insightful TAMI FELDER a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
TAMI, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
They raised someone who doesn’t give up when life gets hard. I know how to work, how to adapt, and how to rebuild when things do not go as planned. I believe in growth, second chances, and creating something meaningful from what I have been given.
They taught me responsibility, resilience, and how to love in a way that shows up. I honor my roots, but I am not limited by them. I just keep evolving!

TAMI, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am the founder and owner of Xpress Events & Catering LLC, a full-service events and catering company known for creating seamless, stress-free experiences rooted in care, precision, and authenticity. My path into the events industry was shaped by years of hard work, resilience, and a deep commitment to service. Having worked since I was 15 years old, I bring a strong work ethic and real-world experience to everything I build. After returning to college at the age of 40, I transformed my passion for hospitality into a thriving business that supports weddings, corporate functions, and celebrations. Through Xpress Events & Catering, my team and I offer catering, event coordination, decor setup, bartending, and officiating services, handling the details so clients can fully enjoy their most meaningful moments. What distinguishes our work is our personal approach. Each event is treated as a milestone. We prioritize listening to our clients and delivering experiences that feel intentional and memorable. I am most proud of the journey behind the success of building a business later in life, betting on myself, and turning setbacks into a purpose. My work reflects my belief in second chances. excellence, and creating beauty where others may see it as stress or chaos. At its core, my brand stands for integrity, heart, and service-and a reminder it’s never too late to build something meaningful.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our most effective strategy for growing clientele has been relationship-driven referrals built on consistency. We don’t just provide a service- we show up, communicate, and execute, which turns first-time clients into repeat clients and vocal advocates. Word of mouth has worked in our favor because people feel taken care of, not rushed or treated like a number. Reputation is our market. People book us because someone they trust already has, and that credibility has been our strongest growth engine.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
One of the most defining pivots in my journey came when I realized talent alone wasn’t enough- structure and adaptability were necessary to grow. In the early stages of building this business, I would say yes to everything. Every event, every request, every opportunity felt like it had to be taken in order to survive. While the work was coming in, the pace was unsustainable. Burnout was creeping in, and the business was running me instead of the other way around. Rather than quitting or shrinking back, I made a hard pivot. I refined my services, put systems into place, and began operating with intention instead of urgency. I shifted from simple cooking to leading, coordinating, and owning the full experience. That pivot allowed me to protect my time, raise my standards, and serve clients more effectively. That moment changed my trajectory, from working in my business to truly building one.
