As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Tamesha Allen is a multifaceted personality who wears many hats. She is an outstanding inspirational speaker, co-author, advocate for youth and young adults, educator, scholarship strategist, and seminar leader. As the founder and owner of Tamesha Speaks, LLC., she is dedicated to creating financial aid pathways for collegiate success by serving underrepresented and underserved communities in the African American community. She has located over $20 million in scholarships and grants and has served over 3,000 families. She is someone who can relate to the struggles of locating funds to further her education after high school. She was the recipient of the 21st Century Scholars Program. It was a program established to assist low-income families. The financial aid process can be an overwhelming experience – so Tamesha created a space where she could help mitgate the burden by providing funding opportunities of hope for scholars in need.
Tamesha is a dynamic leader who serves as the Young Adult Executive Coordinator for the Lake Region Conference in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is a member of the Near Northwest Education Committee in Indianapolis, IN. Tamesha is an entrepreneur at heart, and her passion is to inspire young people to improve their outlook on life and realize their dreams. She provides them with the confidence they need to succeed, saying, “I was born to do this. The passion I have to speak life goes above and beyond what people can think or imagine. I work hard to create safe spaces which allows my scholars and families to thrive in their goals and dreams for themselves, and one another.” One of her favorite scriptures is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Phil. 4:13.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is by word of mouth. It’s an opportunity I know all too well. Building a brand via word of mouth can make or break a business. I have established strong collaborations and partnerships with various high schools, colleges and universities, youth organizations, and churches to provide better and more accessible ways of funding education through private and federal scholarships and grants.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I stay connected to my clientele by inviting them to free events; workshops, seminars, webinars, conferences regarding financial aid support on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), and other private/public funders for scholarships and grants. In addition to keeping them engaged through my social media, podcast, and newsletter educational platforms as well. The goal is for scholars and families to alway be in the know and never lack pertaining to funding.
