If I could change the educational system, I would prioritize critical thinking, creativity, and real-world skills over rote memorization and standardized testing. This means incorporating more project-based learning, interdisciplinary approaches, and opportunities for students to explore their interests through hands-on experiences like internships and mentorships. By doing so, we can help students develop a deeper understanding of subjects, learn to solve problems creatively, and discover their passions early on.
Additionally, I would integrate essential life skills into the curriculum, such as financial literacy, emotional intelligence, and effective communication. Teaching students how to manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, and navigate the complexities of adult life is crucial for their overall well-being and success. A approach to education, one that includes physical health and mental well-being, would ensure that students are not only prepared for their careers but also equipped to lead fulfilling, balanced lives

My name is Tameka Williams , and I founded TP Financial Services , a small business accounting firm dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and business owners manage their finances with ease and confidence. I got into this industry because of my passion for numbers and my desire to support small businesses in achieving their financial goals. After years of working in various accounting roles and gaining extensive experience, I decided to establish my own firm to provide personalized and reliable accounting services.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
When I decided to transition from healthcare to starting my own accounting firm, I was determined not to go into debt. Many people believe that you need loans or significant funding to start a business, but I knew there was another way. Here’s how I personally financed my business and debunked the myth that you’re not a true entrepreneur if you’re still working a 9-to-5 job.
By maintaining my full-time job, I had a steady income, which allowed me to avoid taking on debt. Balancing both roles was challenging, but the security of a regular paycheck provided the financial stability I needed to invest in my new venture. This approach let me build my business at a sustainable pace without the added pressure of debt..

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My business is growing steadily through word of mouth, and I firmly believe that delivering quality service leads to valuable recommendations from satisfied clients. To build strong client relationships, I focus on personal interaction and regular communication. Taking the time to understand my clients’ needs, challenges, and goals helps to strengthen loyalty, while staying in touch through check-ins, newsletters, and updates keeps my services top-of-mind. Additionally, I actively encourage referrals by asking satisfied clients to recommend my services to others. A simple request at the end of a successful project can go a long way. To further incentivize referrals, I offer discounts on future services or small gifts as tokens of appreciation. This approach not only fosters client satisfaction but also drives steady business growth through trusted recommendations
