We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tamarie Tee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We are Tamarie T & Thee Elektra Kumpany, a 15 piece band that performs all original music with a few cover songs. Tamarie T. & Thee Elektra Kumpany brings a transformative musical experience/production with its own unique brand of euphoric, futuristic ascending frequencies called Exotik Funk. An electrifying, high-energy stage show that embodies the performances of James Brown, Prince, Rick James, Parliament-Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Fela Kuti, and many more. In 2018, we won for “Most Outstanding Band” at the 37th Annual Chicago Music Awards. We have held performances at the Chicago House of Blues in 2016, 2018, 2017, and 2020. Also we were the opening act for “The Voice” Season 17 finalist Katie Kaden at House of Blues Chicago 2020 (Sold out show). Recently, we’ve performed at the Navy Pier Beer Garden, The Glenwood Arts Fair in 2021, and The Tribe Supper Club in 2022.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my journey as a Musical Creator, is the uplifting energy me and my group, Thee Elektra Kumpany bring to the people through music/live performances. Seeing people from all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds coming together having a great time brings me in a state of happiness that reminds me that I’m on the right path.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal to put Music/Performcances that actually helps the people from all over vibrate higher, heal, and dance is what drives me to keep at it no matter what or the obstacles that may come up.
