We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamarick Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamarick below.
Hi Tamarick, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelors in Theatre Arts, so you can say i got a thorough crash course in acting. But i do most of my acting on film so that called for me to do my own research on my down time. Im sure there were things i could have done to speed up my learning process but I’m still learning everyday so i wouldn’t even say my process is over. The two most essential skills i learned were memorizing lines & performing in front of an audience. Most people don’t know that those 2 can often times go hand and hand. Its hard to recall your lines if your too nervous, but also if you don’t know your lines well enough you’ll perform poorly in front of the crowd that’s intimidating you anyway. I would say those 2 are the most essential skills and the biggest obstacles.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been into acting since i was young but never really knew how to pursue a passion or craft so it took a while for me to understand my feelings towards acting and film. Before i made up my mind i played football from a child all the way up to highschool, the 11th grade is when i realized my true calling. I took a acting class my junior year with my teacher Mrs. Siegel and she changed my whole outlook on life, i even went on to do my senior project based on acting (A senior project is a big project require to be finished by all students in order to graduate).
Now i Act (Obviously) make skits, short films, collaborate with other artists, i edit, and film. I do everything because i think its smart to be at least familiar with all the aspects of film. Also I’m a creative, creatives cant be bound by reason like not having someone or not knowing how to do something. Creatives have to improvise!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I would say one resource i wish i knew about earlier on is Adobe Premiere Pro. It’s such a great editing software, its easy to use, not complicated to use and very efficient. I struggled a couple years with editing before i was able to have access to Adobe.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There are 2 big rewards for me:
Number 1 is seeing a video i created or acted in come to life exactly how i envisioned it in my head or better. As a creative there can be so many times where your up and down about how your work is going to turn out, especially as an actor creative. sao when i watch the finished product i cant help but feel like i accomplished something huge.
Number 2 is the laughs and smiles i get from my audience. I love when people love my work, that’s about as plain and simple i can see it.
