We were lucky to catch up with Tamara Whitted recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tamara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s something crazy on unexpected that’s happened to you or your business
One of the craziest parts of entrepreneurship for me has honestly been realizing how emotionally attached people become to your brand, especially when your business is rooted in intimacy, confidence, wellness, and a ton of vulnerability. People don’t just buy products from me. They project onto me, confide in me, judge me, celebrate me, and sometimes completely misunderstand me all at once.
One moment that really sticks out happened when one of my more “spicy” products ( Throat Goat) unexpectedly started going viral online. At first, it felt exciting. Orders were coming in nonstop, notifications flying, engagement climbing by the minute. People were tagging friends, laughing, oversharing stories in the comments. To me this was the kind of momentum every entrepreneur dreams about when they’re packaging orders at 2 a.m. wondering if anybody even notices the work.
But then the internet did what the internet does.
Suddenly, people who had never supported my business before had a ton of opinions. Some loved the confidence and humor behind my brand. Others were offended by how bold and unapologetic I was about what I do and what I sell. I woke up one morning to hundreds of notifications from strangers arguing in my comment sections about me, my products, women’s sexuality, relationships, self-care… everything. Some comments were hilarious, some were supportive, and some were just cruel.
What made it surreal was that while all of this was happening publicly, I was still just a regular person sitting in my house fulfilling orders, answering customer emails, trying to keep inventory together, and figuring out shipping issues. The contrast was wild. Online, it looked glamorous and explosive. In reality, I was exhausted, overwhelmed, excited, anxious, grateful, and overstimulated all at once.
I remember sitting there refreshing my phone thinking, “This is either going to elevate my business or completely spin out of control.”
And honestly? It taught me one of the biggest lessons of entrepreneurship: visibility changes everything. Everybody says they want attention on their business until they realize attention is not always gentle. Sometimes growth arrives loudly. Sometimes it tests your confidence before it rewards your consistency.
But seeing customers genuinely connect with my brand, seeing women and men laugh, feel empowered, feel desired, feel confident in themselves, reminded me why I started. That moment made me realize my business was no longer just a small idea in my head. It had become something people felt emotionally connected to.
That’s both the scariest and most beautiful part of being an entrepreneur.

Tamara, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m the founder and face behind Bella Moon Herbals. This is a brand built around refound confidence, sensual wellness, and self-care without shame. What started as a passion for natural products and a desire to heal myself, evolved into something much bigger: a space where people can feel empowered, desired, playful, healed, and fully themselves all at once.
While Bella Moon is deeply rooted in feminine energy, it’s not limited to women. Confidence, care, and connection aren’t gender specific experiences and I’ve intentionally created a brand where both women and men can show up, explore, and feel seen.
I’ve always been naturally entrepreneurial, but more than that, I’ve always understood the power of connection. I realized early on that people don’t just buy products, they buy an experience. That understanding became the foundation of my business. Bella Moon isn’t just about soap, teas, aphrodisiacs and wellness products. It’s about energy, confidence, intimacy, softness, healing, attraction, humor, and authenticity.
My brand lives in the space between luxury wellness and unapologetic sensuality.
One of the things that pushed me into this industry was seeing how disconnected self-care/pleasure products often felt from real people. Everything was either overly clinical, overly polished, or designed with only one type of customer in mind. I wanted to create products that felt personal, bold, natural, emotionally relatable, and inclusive, products that made women feel feminine and empowered while also giving men permission to prioritize themselves, their confidence, their hygiene, and their wellness too.
Some of my products are playful and viral by nature, but underneath the humor is a real focus on wellness, confidence, and care. Whether it’s a tea blend designed to support immunity and energy, or a masculine soap designed specifically for intimate hygiene and freshness, the goal is always the same: helping people reconnect with themselves in a way that feels empowering instead of embarrassing or taboo.
I think what sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t separate myself from my brand. People connect with Bella Moon because they connect with me. I’m willing to have conversations on topics that many brands avoid, like intimacy, confidence, body awareness, sensuality, emotional wellness, femininity, relationships, and self-image, but I approach those conversations in a way that still feels warm, playful, elevated, and human.
What I’m most proud of is building something people genuinely emotionally connect to. I’ve had customers tell me my products helped them feel confident again after heartbreak, helped them reconnect with their femininity, helped them prioritize self-care, or simply gave them joy during difficult times. Those moments mean more to me than numbers ever could.
I’m also proud that I’ve built my brand by being authentically myself. In a world where people often feel pressure to fit neatly into one category, I’ve embraced being multifaceted in my personalities. My brand is sensual but professional, nurturing but outspoken, funny but intentional, feminine but powerful. I think people see that honesty, and it gives them permission to embrace themselves more fully too.
The biggest thing I want people to know about me and my brand is that Bella Moon is built from a real place. Every product, every post, every campaign, every conversation comes from lived experience, creativity, passion, and genuine care for how people feel. I don’t just want customers…. I want people to feel something when they interact with my brand.
If someone walks away from Bella Moon feeling more confident, more cared for, more seen, or even simply smiling a little harder than they were before, then I’ve done what I set out to do.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media really started when I stopped trying to be overly polished and started just being myself. Early on, I was focused on aesthetics and “brand perfection,” but growth didn’t really happen until I leaned into personality, humor, and honest conversations that actually reflect real life.
A big turning point for me was creating my “Throat Goat Tips” videos. Those videos were bold, funny, and very unfiltered compared to what most brands were doing. Instead of trying to water my content down, I leaned into confidence, sexual wellness conversations, and education in a way that felt playful and entertaining. People didn’t just watch them, they shared them, talked about them, and engaged with them because it felt different, unexpected, and real. That series helped me cut through the noise and build an audience that actually paid attention.
From there, I learned that consistency and personality matter more than perfection. I started showing up with more humor, more directness, and more of my natural voice behind Bella Moon. That’s when my community really started to grow.
For anyone building their social media presence, my biggest advice is this: don’t wait until you feel “ready” or perfectly put together. People connect to confidence and authenticity way faster than they connect to perfection. Also, don’t be afraid to be a little polarizing. The content that gets attention isn’t always the safest… it’s the stuff that makes people feel something.
And most importantly, find your voice and stick with it. That’s what turns views into a real audience.
