We recently connected with TAMARA WESLEY-DECLOUETTE and have shared our conversation below.

TAMARA, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

SAPPHIRE&HATCHET are the nicknames of my late parents Henry (Hatchet) and Ella (Sapphire) Wesley. Both my parents were hard workers and always willing to help others. I wanted to keep them with me through my journey to help others achieve their goals in achieving a healthier lifestyle.

TAMARA, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m Tamara Wesley-DeClouette , I’m a Certified Body Contour Specialist and Beard Care Expert. I am the CEO of Sapphire&Hatchet~bodiedbytamara and W&L Beard Lounge. Back in 2020< I was struggling with health issues due to my weight and needed assistance. I didn’t like having to rely on others to get my basic needs met, so I researched options. I was following someone on IG, that was offering services and products that if used inches were lost and was noninvasive. I watched her page for two months before seeking help. I ordered the products and after being consistent; then scheduled services. The results were amazing. So, I inquired more about the process that was no surgery involved and no downtime. I took the Body Contouring class and became certified. My journey began to continue on being healthy and helping others to overcome their daily struggles with their bodies. At S&H, we have worked hard at taking mutiple classes in improving the craft in many areas. We offer multiple services and products, such as skin tightening, butt enhancements, wraps, detox drinks, mesolipo , and red light therapy. detox pills, and more. Our methods and products offer amazing results.
Most clients want their bodies sculpted to display a smaller version of themselves or a more enhanced version of themselves. We have success stories!
S&H is mobile! We come to you in the comfort of your home, which is a plus for most clients.
In addition to S&H, we now have a beard care line. W&L Beard Lounge, which is also mobile ; offers beard care products and services. We offer beard oil, shampoo and conditioner, beard balm, and beard facials.
We take pride in offering good quality care and service to our clients. We cater to their needs.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

Initially, I funded my business. I really didn’t have a plan in place. I just knew I wanted to start a business. My husband, at that time, helped me buy supplies and my first set of machines. I then started looking into groups that offered the same services. I found a group that offered mentorship. Within the group, the administrator gave tons of gems on how to be successful as a business owner. She gave several tips on funding and how to go about getting what was needed. Following her instructions, funding became readily available.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Family and friends will NOT support you! These very people whom you have known most of your life, think you are crazy and don’t believe in your vision. Many people I know tried to encourage me to stay on my regular job, that I quit by the way. I believed in myself. I was determined to NOT clock into anybody else’s job when I could work for myself. So, moving forward; STRANGERS are your biggest supporters! I started in May 2020, and I’m still here!
