We were lucky to catch up with Tamara Sweere recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tamara, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Taking a risk in pursuing a dream not well defined, without parameters of a long-term goal or the outcome, as a part of life’s calling, was an incredible act of courage that I pushed myself into – and am getting used to, in feeling it, developing it and defining it further, writing my own story in colors, textures, scents, experiments, doubts and triumphs.
Creating art in a class setting for a decade, and then showing it to public, as a part of never-ending learning process, locally and internationally, and being chosen and invited by the art galleries to participate in exhibitions and become a part of a greater global art family had been an eye-opening, encouraging and at the same time a humbling experience, all happening at once during world’s pandemic, despite all odds, digitally and physically. My story might be quite typical for those years of fear, restrictions and isolation, but it is also unique in its approach of taking action in creativity development and growth.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
By allowing myself, believing in myself and with the help of the Universe I was able to establish my first steps in the creative field, using paints and mixed media to express my feelings on canvas, without expectations. It worked! After my career in art unrelated terrain in the past decades, and having undergone changes in business and life, the new creative occupation, in physical and digital form has brought my hidden talents into light – social media became a very important tool to raise awareness of my professional interests and endeavors.
There’s so much to do – and it seems I am not doing enough… in creative field one should give oneself some space, do nothing, observe and feel life, nature and music, play more – and then the magic happens, and you start creating in the flow, bask in your art portal and do not force anything… reassessing is also very important, on a regular basis, as it gives one time and clarity to understand the priorities better and act upon them.
My art spilled onto Artwear, which you can find on www.legaleriste.com/artamara.alias and Art Perfume, www.tijon.com NFTs www.opensea.io/ARTamara, and I also created a YouTube channel @tamarasweere31566. I am still struggling with creating a website, with some initial steps already taken, while enjoying making reels based on my art, and would appreciate some help in that area.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, being an artist or creative is being free to express my feelings in colors, textures, styles and scale – all of which change, interchange, repeat, evolve and reflect my state of being. The music of painting appeals to me, and when I am in my art portal there’s nothing more satisfying than to be in the flow! When the viewer can feel all those energies and hear the music – and I spoke to some that have experienced some similar sensations as me looking at my paintings – then it is truly blissful to be able to share with the world my passions!
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs have brought us further in our desire to like it, want it, and have it, as the adage goes, at our fingertips, in our gadgets, and they appeal a great deal to all generations that literally grew up with the gadgets in their hand. Art NFTs are the fastest growing sector of all NFTs, and it is quite exciting to own images and have them with you at all times.
I created some NFTs too, and have them available on OpenSea digital platform – visit my page https://opensea.io./ARTamara. One has to be vigilant as scammers, hackers and other fakers try to offer you scenarios on getting your money, pretending to buy your NFTs or art – they made me wiser and stronger in the process!
