We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamara Perry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamara below.
Tamara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
My business, Flavorables by Tam, came from a genuine love for fragrance and creativity. I’ve always been drawn to scents and When I finally decided to start creating fragrances and sharing them with others, it felt like stepping into something I had been preparing for my whole life.
If I had started sooner, I believe I would already be even more established today. Entrepreneurship comes with a learning curve — branding, pricing, marketing, production, and understanding your customer. Starting earlier would have given me more time to experiment, grow the brand, and refine my vision.
However, starting when I did also have its advantages. By that point in my life, I had developed strong business discipline, confidence, and professional experience that helped me approach my brand strategically instead of just creatively. My corporate background taught me how to structure systems, manage projects, and think long-term about growth.
Looking back, I do wish I had started sooner, but I also believe the timing shaped the way I built my business. Today I run my fragrance brand with both passion and strategy, combining creativity with the professional experience I gained over the years.
In many ways, starting when I did allow me to build something that truly reflects who I am now.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tamara Perry, originally from Grand Prairie, Texas, and I am the founder and creator behind The House of Flavorables by Tam. I’m a wife, a mother of five, and a fragrance creator who truly believes scent has the power to tell a story and create lasting memories.
Fragrance has always been a part of my life. Growing up, my grandmother sold Mary Kay and my mother sold Avon fragrances, so beauty and fragrance were always around me. As a little girl, I remember being fascinated with perfume bottles and how a scent could instantly change how you felt. One of my favorite perfumes back then was Rare Gold, and I think that was one of my earliest memories of realizing how powerful fragrance could be.
Over time that fascination turned into creativity. I began experimenting with fragrances and eventually started creating my own blends. What started as a passion quickly grew into something much bigger. Today through The House of Flavorables by Tam, I create exclusive fragrances and body products designed to help people express themselves through scent.
My brand currently includes over 22 women’s fragrances and 10 men’s fragrances, along with products such as body oils, lotions, beard oils, body wash, and other fragrance-based products. I also create custom scents and fragrance experiences, including perfume bars and scent experiences for events. My goal is to give people something unique that they can’t find everywhere else.
One of the problems I solve for my clients is helping them find or create a scent that truly represents them. Many people wear fragrance, but they often want something more personal or distinctive. Through my brand, I give clients the opportunity to experience exclusive scents that feel unique to them, and for some events they can even participate in creating their own fragrance.
What I believe sets my brand apart is that it’s built on creativity, authenticity, and faith. I’m not just selling fragrance—I’m creating an experience and a story behind every scent. Each fragrance is carefully created with the intention of making people feel confident, memorable, and connected to the moment they’re in.
Another thing that makes my journey unique is that I built this brand while balancing many roles in life. Being a mother of five while building a business has taught me discipline, patience, and resilience. For me, one of the biggest lessons has been simply staying committed and continuing to show up, even when building something from the ground up takes time.
Above all, my faith is at the center of everything I do. I truly believe I couldn’t do any of this without God guiding my path and giving me the creativity and strength to keep going.
What I’m most proud of is seeing something that started as a passion grow into a brand that people genuinely enjoy and support. There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing someone say they love a scent I created or seeing people connect with the products.
What I want people to know most about The House of Flavorables by Tam is that it’s more than just fragrance—it’s about creating an experience, building confidence, and leaving a lasting impression through scent.
And as the brand continues to grow, my goal is to keep expanding the fragrance collection, create more unique scent experiences, and continue building a brand that people remember.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
One of the most important things to me as a brand owner is staying connected with my customers. I make a point to stay engaged by regularly checking in with them, whether it’s through social media, messages, or at events. I like to hear their feedback, what scents they’re loving, and what they would like to see next. That interaction helps me continue creating products that truly connect with them.
I also keep my customers involved through contests, promotions, and special sales, which makes the experience fun and rewarding for them. It’s my way of showing appreciation for their continued support.
For me, brand loyalty comes from building real relationships. I want my customers to feel like they are part of the House of Flavorables by Tam community, not just purchasing a product. When people feel valued and heard, they naturally become loyal supporters of the brand.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One of the biggest things that has helped me build my reputation is simply being authentic and real with my customers. I never forget that I’m also a customer myself, so I understand what people are looking for when they support a brand. People want quality products, honesty, and a genuine connection.
I make it a priority to treat my customers the way I would want to be treated. That means being transparent, listening to their feedback, and creating products that I would personally wear and stand behind. I think people can feel when a brand is genuine, and that authenticity has helped me build trust within my market.
Consistency has also played a big role. I stay engaged with my customers, continue creating new scents, and make sure the quality of my products remains strong. Over time, that consistency combined with authenticity has helped my brand grow and build a loyal community around The House of Flavorables by Tam.
At the end of the day, my reputation has been built on being real, delivering quality, and making sure every customer feels valued.
