We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tamara Mckane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tamara below.
Tamara, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
My journey began with creating products for my home and body. Realizing the presence of toxins in everyday items, I sought a more holistic approach to healing and home fragrance. I started with essential oil roll-ons for headaches and soy wax melts for scenting my home. One day, I brought some wax melts to my friend Brittany Spencer’s shop, and she immediately wanted to sell them! That was the moment I became a vendor. What started as a small endeavor in my kitchen quickly transformed into having my products in a shop.
Soon, I began working at her shop as a team member, and I quickly became one of her main tarot readers, teachers, and event planners. As I gained confidence in my readings, it became clear that this was my true calling. I have always been an intuitive empath, sensitive to people’s energies and able to foresee events. My strongest “superpower” is my ability to connect and communicate with unseen energies. When I enter a space, I can perceive its history—sight, scent, sound, and all.
I harness this ability in my tarot readings. I like to describe my cards as tuning knobs on an old radio, helping me focus and extract what needs to be discussed. When clients leave a reading with a smile and a new energy, I know I’m living my dream job—the job I was meant to do. In a sense, you could call us “tarotpists”; this truly is a form of “tarotpy”. We help people heal through knowledge and guidance, and this practice is therapeutic for me as well.
I founded Tam’s Enchanted Emporium for several reasons:
1. To alleviate the financial stress on my family, allowing me to make my own hours and still manage the household.
2. With my children now older, I can dedicate more time to growing my business and expanding its reach. My vision includes having my own space to offer various services such as readings, tarot classes, sound baths, breathwork, and yoga classes. We would also host private reading parties and healing retreats. I aim to create a welcoming space for everyone to join in their healing journey, regardless of where they are.
3. Lastly, I am really good at what I do! Don’t we all want to love the job we do?
This venture not only allows me to support my family but also to share my passion and skills with a broader community, creating a space where healing and learning can flourish.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Tamara McKane, and I’m 41 years old. I am a wife, mother of four, and grandmother to one. I have two pets—a cat named Boo and a dog named Lucy. As the sole owner and operator of Tam’s Enchanted Emporium, I am a professional tarot reader, medium, teacher, and intuitive empath, dedicated to offering healing through deep insights and spiritual guidance. Additionally, I curate a selection of organic products for the home and body.
Readings:Clients can receive card readings from me in person, via video chat, or through recorded sessions. I am also available for private party readings. While individual readings can be scheduled as needed, I typically recommend waiting at least 30 days between sessions to allow for integration and reflection.
Services:My offerings extend to in-home energy clearings, sound baths, classes, and workshops. Detailed information about these services is available on my social media and website.
Products:I create a variety of organic products for the home, body, and intention setting. My handmade items include soy wax melts and candles infused with Full Moon charged crystals, essential oil roll-ons for healing and intentions, witch’s bells, other protection items, tarot decks, pendulums and boards, altar kits, and more. These products are available for purchase through my social media channels @tamsenchantedemporium, my website [tamsenchantedemporium.com](http://www.tamsenchantedemporium.com), or at my booth at various events.
I encourage followers on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for the latest updates and event information. I also offer various coupons, such as $5 off your reading if you schedule ahead, for birthdays, or if you follow me on social media.
For me, this job is not just about making money. I genuinely enjoy the networking and connections it brings. One of my favorite aspects is meeting so many new, beautiful souls. You never know whose life you can touch, even with a brief reading. If I can change just one person’s perception of tarot readings from something negative or frightening to something positive, it makes it all worthwhile.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Like a lot of other folks out there, when I got started it seemed to be smoke and mirrors. Hopes are high. The real picture isn’t clear just yet. You seem to think that you’re product or service is going to just take off right away. Calls will come in, messages gotten, emails received, and it’s not like that at all. At least, not for me it wasn’t. Not at first. In certain fields, you have to move differently. People don’t know you yet. They don’t know your skill. Things like gaining followers, getting repeat customers, all of that takes time. And then there’s the social media aspect. As an 80’s kid, we were just getting computers in schools. The internet wasn’t a thing yet. So posting on social media was definitely a learning experience for me. Grin and bear it they say! As a vendor, someone who goes around with their product to sell at different events, there is a down time in the season of sales. I was not expecting this, either. I didn’t take into account that the winter months slows way down and sales are extremely low sometimes. But that is the flow of this type of work and you have to learn and adapt to the environment. This is when resilience is created. Especially when you have put money into creating more of your craft, package and label it, and the event flops and there’s no sales. It’s hard not to go home with your head low. That’s when you’re being tested on your patience. this is when we learn resilience. You just have to not let it discourage you, and keep going! Never stop adapting and never stop pushing for more.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I do manufacture my own products, yes! And boy did I find out about a few important things real quick! Quality products are so important! Especially when you are creating products for healing the body. The skin is sensitive, and if you are using bad oils and waxes, not only will that affect your product negatively, but it could also affect the consumer negatively as well. It’s extremely important to research the sites that you get your products from. For instance, I went through many websites and researching through their ingredients until I found a company with quality oils and wax and still be affordable. The big names aren’t always the best choice. When I began making my own products, it was because I was suffering from constant headaches, and tired of taking over the counter medication. So I started looking into essential oils and other holistic ways of healing. That lead me to making my own candles and wax melts so that not only would my house smell good but I wouldn’t be putting toxins into the air because of dyes, bad wax, and fragrance oils. I did my research, googled different sites, watched YouTube videos, and started crafting my own organic goods. My list of herbs, oils, and other apothecary items started to grow rapidly so I began selling my products in a shop and at events.
