Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tamara Galinsky. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tamara , appreciate you joining us today. How has Covid changed your business model?
Like many fitness brands, JETSET had to completely close for several months during the initial stage of the Pandemic. We signed our new flagship studio lease 10 days before the shutdown was announced!
Initially I was paralyzed with fear. However, when we re-opened, and that location in Sunset Harbor went live – we found ourselves with people from all over the country coming into our studio. They started to ask if we can open JETSET Pilates in their towns, as there was nothing like it where they lived.
That is when we started to put our work towards creating a franchise system with experienced franchise operating partners, which is going to launch this summer! This crisis created a unique opportunity: people who may have never come to Miami, ended up here, experiencing JETSET Pilates and reinforcing how in demand we are in our offering.
JETSET Franchise is launching summer 2022. Our vision is to make JETSET Pilates the #1 evolutionary brand of pilates studios around the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics, my initial career path was far from Pilates. I was born with severe hip dysplasia, I am writing this having now had 2 hip surgeries, over the last 10 years.
My first introduction to Pilates was in London, in 2008 after my first daughter was born. I lived in London at a time and was a partner at Cushman & Wakefield, a commercial real estate firm.
I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy, and my entire body was weak and out of alignment. I discovered Pilates. I was so determined to both shed pounds and tone, that soon traditional pilates was not enough as far as intensity. With dedication and learning more about the method, my hip and back pain was almost gone. At the same time, I shed the weight and gained the body tone I never had in my life.
I moved to Miami in 2009 and started to look for studios that can match my needs. As I play piano and music is my passion, I wanted intensity, the right choreography, the best reformer, and great music. I was not able to find what I was looking for so I started JETSET Pilates with the first studio in the South of Fifth area of Miami Beach.
I remember my friends talking me out of it saying why would you do that when people have gyms! I took a chance. I got pregnant 2 weeks after I opened JETSET with my second daughter. So that first year was very challenging, as I had to teach classes till 7 months pregnant before I trained new instructors in the method. Soon, JETSET became one of Miami’s favorite Pilates studios.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
JETSET Pilates is not just Pilates studios – we are a luxury brand of accessible pilates – so our stories and Instagram reflects that – what do our clients do when they travel, what do our instructors do outside the studios. We believe in sharing and including people into our story.

If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
Our apparel has been very popular with clients – often people recognize one another wearing JETSET Pilates apparel. So far we have been doing limited batches but plan to grow it significantly in the future, especially with our plan to grow nationally via Franchising.
