We were lucky to catch up with Talida Petre recently and have shared our conversation below.
Talida, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
The defining moment in my personal career came about three years ago, during a profoundly life-changing time. My mother passed away suddenly in a tragic car accident on my son’s birthday. Before her passing, I had always dreamed of pursuing a career in the beauty industry and earning my license, but I kept waiting for the “right time” to make it happen.
Her loss was a wake-up call that made me realize just how short and fragile life is. It gave me the clarity and courage to stop waiting for the perfect moment and start pursuing what I was truly passionate about. I knew then that it was time to honor my dreams and step into a field I had always been drawn to. That realization changed the trajectory of my life, and it’s what inspired me to fully commit to my passion for helping others feel beautiful and confident.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
A little bit about me: I’m originally from Romania and came to the United States when I was six years old. I come from a large family of 11 siblings and am the second oldest. I’m also a proud mom of two amazing kids, Rachel and Jayden, who are now 22 and 23.
What sets my med spa apart is my commitment to honesty, transparency, and exceptional care. I’ve invested in top-notch technology, including the Alma Soprano Titanium laser, to ensure my clients receive the best results possible. I take the time to sit down with each client to truly understand their concerns, educate them about their skin, and provide solutions that go beyond surface-level fixes. My goal is not to sell the most expensive product but to empower my clients with knowledge so they can make informed decisions about their skincare.
I’ve always been passionate about beauty and health, and after years of dreaming about it, I finally decided to turn that passion into a career. Being able to help others feel confident and beautiful is something I deeply enjoy, and I’m committed to providing a personalized, honest, and caring experience for everyone who walks through my doors.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Nineteen years ago, I made a life-changing decision that would test my resilience in every way imaginable. At the time, I was living in Salisbury, North Carolina, a small town where divorce was taboo in my culture. When my marriage ended, I became the subject of whispers and judgment, labeled the “black sheep.” My father had recently passed away from a stroke, and I found myself alone, raising my two young children, who were just 5 and 6 years old. I didn’t want them to grow up feeling like failures because of my situation, so I made the bold decision to start fresh.
With only $20 in my pocket, I packed everything I could into a 16-foot Penske truck, leaving behind anything that wouldn’t fit. I hitched my car to the back of the truck, loaded my kids into the front seat, and drove to Florida, determined to build a better life for them. When we arrived, we had nothing but each other. At one point, we even had to sleep in the car, but I refused to let my circumstances define our future.
Those were the darkest days of my life. I had no support system, no friends, and no safety net. But giving up was never an option. I worked tirelessly to provide for my children, ensuring they had the best I could offer. They were my motivation, my reason to keep going, and because of them, I found the strength to persevere.
Looking back, that chapter of my life taught me the true meaning of resilience. Despite the overwhelming odds, I built a new life from the ground up. It wasn’t easy, but it proved to me that even in our darkest moments, we can rise above and create something beautiful. My children’s happiness and success are the greatest reminders of why I never gave up, even when it felt like the whole world was against me.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
In my field, aside from training and knowledge, building trust and genuine connections with clients is key. This includes actively listening to their concerns, being transparent about treatments, and delivering consistent results. Offering personalized care and creating a welcoming, positive experience makes clients feel valued and sets you apart. My passion and dedication will naturally foster loyalty and long-term success.
