We were lucky to catch up with Talia Rosen Any Avakian recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Talia Rosen, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Consistency is key. Next comes having a structured business plan. This can take months to nail down– and a lot of trial and error. After every project Any and I make a list of what was successful, and what we need to work on. These lists have everything from how we manage clients, to our internal organizational structure for keeping track of orders. Our goal is to make each and every project we take on, a seamless experience for our clients. At the end of the day, we provide a service to our clients, and no matter how beautiful the project is, it’s not successful unless our clients are satisfied every step of the way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Avakian Interiors is a full-service residential interior design studio that assists clients through all stages of the design process. Unlike larger interior design firms that have one ‘look’ they give to their clients, we like to take our client’s unique taste and personality into account and incorporate it into their space. While we have many people who come to us because they appreciate the look of our past projects, we never want to get to the point where everything looks the same. We’re most proud of creating one of a kind homes that are a reflection of our clients. For example, one of our favorite things is to incorporate our client’s art into our designs. It’s the best way to mesh our design ideas with who our clients are and what they’re looking for.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Many of our clients, or even friends and family who follow us on Instagram, don’t realize how hands on Any and I are. Since we’re a small team, we’re always wearing different hats– from movers and handymen, to delivery coordinators and social media managers. When you’re a small business you have to be flexible and willing to adapt to the task that’s at hand in order to be successful. It can be tough at times but it’s always worth it when the final product is beautiful and our client’s are happy with our work.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My best piece of advice is to invest in an Instagram planning app so you can plan your posts out ahead of time, and make sure the look and feel is right. Once you have that, you need to be consistent with posting on the same days each week, while using a different set of hashtags for each post so you can reach a different audience.
