We were lucky to catch up with Talaya Woods recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Talaya thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I first decided to go into in business it took me awhile to find something that stuck but I really wanted the letters to be “TBE”. So I decided to go with ‘The Blooming Effect’. Which is similar to ‘The Butterfly Effect. If you are familiar with it, It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world meaning even a very minor event, action or small shift can have such a tremendous effect down the line. My name Talaya also means blooming so I hope my presence and creativity leave a mark on someone out there to inspire them in a way within my brand.
Talaya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey Readers!
For those of you who don’t know me my name is Talaya Woods and I am a Minnesota Photographer and my company is called The Blooming Effect or TBE for short. During the pandemic in 2020, all we had as a collective was time and I chose to invest mine into starting my photography business and taking courses for business and entrepreneurship. I remember as a kid I was always the one who loved taking out my grandma’s photo albums when I would visit and getting older that really stuck with me. Over the years I’ve learned pictures are worth a thousand words but the memories are priceless. With my brand, I aim to create long lasting memories for my clients so that they can always remember those special times.
As far as business goes lately I’ve been shooting lots of concerts but I have taken pictures of many things anywhere from prom photos to book signings and everything in between.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I would say my journey through entrepreneurship hasn’t been a traditional one. During the pandemic I got into podcasts and YouTube heavily and one that really stuck out to me is B.Simone’s “Road To A Million” Video. She documented her journey to becoming 30 and how she wanted to make a million before her birthday. That video showed me how much work you have to put into your vision but also how obtainable it is to reach that goal if you just put your mind to it. Ever since I viewed that video I have invested in myself by taking classes in business and entrepreneurship and really challenging myself to put my all into my business. To this day I still follow B.Simone’s entrepreneurial journey with her brand, her lipgloss business and now through her podcast Know For Sure. She is definitely someone who inspires me.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Personally for me the most rewarding thing about being a photographer is helping others create a long lasting memory that they can cherish forever. But also being able to express my creativity through photos.
Another rewarding thing is that I personally get to network and build relationships with lots of different people which means in the end we can become an asset for each other.
